Fuck Dean Smith and his team of cynical cloggers.

The gripe by Smith about the retrospective banning of one of his players came across to me - and this is a forum for personal views - as unnecessarily combative.  Plus I do not subscribe to the "our player right or wrong" philosophy in the game.

Heat of the moment post match reaction to losing two points at the death. On reflection it looks like he saw sense and swallowed the punishment with no come back.

When we looked at our best last season, with our best 11, you always just felt we were a tiny bit short of being a top 2/promoted through the play offs team. That shortage came in the form of Kodjia being injured and his stand ins just looking a bit inferior and the other shortage was having Hourahane in that best starting 11, a good player on his day in this league but not consistent enough. McGinn appears to be the upgrade we needed and Kodjia is now back and appears to be firing again.
The problem we now have is that we haven't replaced Terry and the GK replacement for Johnstone might be good enough, might not, we'll see.
It also looks like Bolassie will be the alternative for Snodgrass which will be another one we'll have to hope works out but time will tell.
Whilst I'm delighted with the new owners coming in it's a shame it wasn't a month or so earlier in terms of our chances this season.

Scotland V Belgium. 745pm
Jon Mcginn number 7 for villa and Scotland .
I hope he's not playing with this injury Bruce was going on about.
Think he'll put up a decent showing tonight as he's all action.

He’s caught the Villa disease by all accounts.

“If you were a Belgian, it was pretty and what you would have expected from your boys. If you were a Scot it was painful, an evisceration of McLeish's notion that his team were good enough to go "toe-to-toe" with the third best team in the world. Delusional.

Just before the half-hour, Belgium got their first. Craig Gordon unwisely rolled the ball out to McGinn, who was facing his own goal and unaware of the danger he was in. His first touch was a total Captain and allowed Mousa Dembele to ransack him and feed Thorgan Hazard, who calmly rolled it across for Lukaku to score his 41st international goal.”

Always good too see Scotland get a pasting, not so good when our bright hope has a mare.

Stupid by the goalie to roll it to him in that position, but that first touch!

All I read is a bitter and twisted fenian :). They're just upset because McGinn chose a superior team to sign for.

I just hope we don't coach the quality out of this kid, typical Villa stylee.  He could be a fantastic player but we need a settled starting eleven and players playing in their right formation. Get Jedinak in behind McGinn and Jack and let them play further forward.

I'm pretty sure you could have chosen your words a bit more carefully there.

That's what three weeks of Steve Bruce inspired coaching does for you.

Sorry Dave, it was a joke (ok a bad joke) hence the smiley face.

No offence meant to anyone on here.

Even I'd look world class against Albania.
