Sounds like his set plays were great. Seems to be the midfielder I thought Hourihane was going to be.

I quite like being 2nd in the league though.

Let’s see him score double figures in goals before we compare them. Hourihane has plenty of positives in his game the McGinn might not have. They are very different players.

Pat Nevin's just given a glowing endorsement of McGinn on 5 Live, declaring him one of the signings of the summer. He reckons he's one of only two Scottish Prem players who would walk into an English Premier League side, never mind a Championship one (Tierney being the other? I think that's who he said, never heard of him but I'm guessing he plays for Celtic). He says he's brilliant and it's a great bit of business from Villa. Nice to hear. Hope he's right.

Tierney is good. Linked with Liverpool and Arsenal in the summer for circa £15 million.

Indeed, one of them isn't anonymous if he doesn't score.

Excellent debut and everything we were led to believe.  Seems to have graft and ability in equal measure.  I think he and Grealish will like playing in the same team.

So that's Bremner and Cowans positions sorted, we're on our way back! ;)

My point remains though. Two entirely different types of player. We need to find someone to replace those goals as we can’t keep relying on defenders, defensive midfielders and own goals. I’m not saying at all I’d prefer Hourihane over McGinn. The opposite on the evidence of today. I’m just saying it’s great we have both but if McGinn plays more he has chip in too and as he did today create for others.
