John McGinn:

Transfer fee of £2,100,00 and A four year deal with a weekly wages of £15,000.

For the 2018/19 accounts that is £1,305,000.

We've just received the thick end of £4,000,000. Why is this deal an issue for FFP?

I’d assume because we are anywhere from £15-£40m short of FFP still
My guess is we will try bring McGinn in with the understanding jack will be off in January. That’ll give mcginn time to settle in and get up to speed without him necessarily being seen as a like for like replacement for jack

Because we'd still have Grealish on our books and we have a hole bigger than £2,695,000

The purchase isn't dependant on Grealish being sold, along with Bryan, is more than covered by Traore while still reducing any deficit.

Grealish and McGinn do not play in the same position or in the same way. This chap is box to box.

Hasn't Nassef Sawiris asked his accountant to look through the books and apparently said we're good to go without selling Grealish. I think a few days before NSWE bought us I heard a Simon Jordan say the figures going around that Villa needed to find were way off the mark.

Doesn't the £6 - £7 million saving a year from getting Terry and Agbonlahor off the books go towards helping in terms of FFP or not? And didn't NSWE purchase a few million pounds worth of shares only a few days ago too...does that help?

Surely any sell on fee for Traore will be a percentage of the increase in value rather than on the sale price?  If Wolves pay £18m, and we got what, £7m for him, that's an increase of £11m and 20% of that is just over £2m, not £4m.  And that's assuming that idiot Xia hasn't already sold the benefit for 2 and 6.

Most factoring I've come across only deals with known future income, which is why we've done deals on Westwood, Amavi and Sanchez monies. There was no certainty Traore would be sold and for what when we were scratching around for money. I think.

I assume they could do a cash deal on the clause.

I like the sound of this signing.  Don't know much about him, but what I do sounds all positive.  And though it's not entirely rational, we have rarely been disappointed by the many Scottish players that have played for us down the years.

That’s exactly how I see it.
I think the new guys would have had their best people all over the books and the finances to understand exactly where we are and what we can and cannot do.
I still think the FFP is a real issue but was made to appear much worse by Xia to cover up the fact he hasnt got a pot to piss in.

I just hope he doesn't get moody and homesick like Maloney did. We don't want him driving back to Dundee in bare feet.

Just need to shower him with toblerone and he’ll be OK.
