Him and Mings are 21st century Villa icons. Championship to Europe. Undisputable.

Absolutely. It's not just about pots and pans - these guys have been with us from pretty much our lowest ebb in half a century, they helped drag us back and will still be key players for us in Europe next year.

In that three years we had a higher average than Leeds in two out of the three seasons, and that's with them having the Emery-esque appointment, at that level anyway, of Bielsa

To be fair, I think Leeds did have some black players during that time. That's bound to have affected their attendances.

Leeds had one of the first black players I can recall as a first team regular back in the early sixties, Albert Johansson, a South African winger.  Sadly died in poverty I believe.

In his interview with Pat Murphy on the radio last night he said that Villa shouldn’t really be celebrating 7th place because we should be higher. He gets this club.

It's worth celebrating with the context of where we were after 11 games.

I get what he's saying, but if you can't enjoy/celebrate runs like the one we've been on, then there's really not much point.

I’m pleased with Europe, but that’s not what I’m celebrating.

I’m celebrating the end of 5 years of growth and improvement and the start of the next era. And I’m celebrating the fact that we now go into games we have to win and actually win.

7th and ECL is the least of what I want us to achieve, but it’s the next step on the ladder.

Conference League is nice, just ask West Ham and Fiorentina (and Roma!). But the thing to really celebrate is that it symbolises our return to contender status. We've finished above Spurs - and miles above Chelsea - to get there, we've won 18 games, and we just look like a real team. It's the best we've been since the O'Neill days and, with this manager and ownership structure, this time feels infinitely more sustainable, like the real thing. That's what we're celebrating really.

Absolutely this, and for me also that we set out to achieve an unlikely target and actually did it. It feels like a cup win in that sense, and I think it will do wonders for belief going forward

Next year I am going to agree with this. If we maintain our trajectory then Conference qualification will be something of a disappointment as we will have dropped into it from a CL or Europa position in the table.
