Its his distribution that lets him down, if he is forced to play deep then there must be better options at the club.

He's not a dud, for sure. He needs a rest and a decent team around him.

He gives it away far too much to be a top player.

And normally it's when he's under no pressure.

Yes, exactly this.  We need someone in his position with much better technique - I thought this would be Sanson, but he hasn't really kicked on.

If he hadn't happened to be playing against Hugo Lloris deciding to choose yesterday to have the game of his life, everyone would have been singing his praises.

We need an outlet further forward so we have a choice to play it long or short. If McGinn has to keep getting the ball ten yards from our penalty area he is never going to be at his most effective. Defensive midfielder behind him and a vaguely competent replacement for Watkins will sort that out.

Its his distribution that lets him down, if he is forced to play deep then there must be better options at the club.

He's a risk taker playing in a position where he shouldn't be taking them as it leaves us exposed when he does.

Either he changes, the formation changes, or he should be dropped.

Absolutely!

Watched him closely in the second half yesterday and he seemed utterly lost! He is obviously under instructions not to get forward so he is really struggling and becoming a shadow of the player he once was for us! Still convinced McGinn is a good player but his style is an all action involvement style which doesn't suit the system that Gerrard wants him to play.

He was in forward areas for most of the game yesterday, he just wasn't very good.

He was in forward areas for most of the game yesterday, he just wasn't very good.

We battered Spurs yesterday in the first half everybody admits that even pundits on the telly, We didn’t capitalise on the domination because of the misfits upfront And a keeper that turned into Gordon Banks
So he really couldn’t have been that bad don’t know what you were watching because it obviously wasn’t the match

He gave the ball away three times you said, I’m not saying that’s good and admittedly they were in dangerous positions but to use words like useless and did nothing, he needs to go, that I’m seeing on here is just pathetically ridiculous
You have an agenda against him fair enough I’ve been there I’ve done that with certain players in the past so I know what it’s like, but you’re still wrong
No mentions of the times he won the ball back, no mentions of the forward runs forward passes, no mention of the decent shot he had, no mention of the part he played when we were all over Spurs in the first half,

he gave the ball away three times for fuck‘s sake, Honestly it’s the most pathetic thing I’m reading on here lately
I’m not looking to change your mind because I know that won’t happen you’re set in your ways on this one and quite frankly don’t have very good judgement on players in my opinion which doesn’t help

McGinn is not in top form but he is no way the biggest liability we have in our team at the moment when we have a couple of misfiring numpties up front and centre backs with no composure or technical ability at the back

Just impressed that JJ seems to understand the Scottish accent quite well:
