I expect John McGinn to kick on this season. Gives the ball away too much, doesn't score many goals or create a load, but does do a lot of dirty work. Seems somewhat unedifying to say it but I'd hope for much more from him this season. I don't know whether it's the position he's being asked to play in or because he has reached his level?
I was expecting Ash Young to captain though.
I love Ginny but I think the captain role is more for him at Scotland.
To me agree but Yes he grew in season latterly and became far more apparent and influential in matches and immense in leading the press or playing passes as well as the winning the ball back. Brilliant energy and to see him back to near peak levels on that side was joyous.
I also think he still must continue to work in his onfield discipline. Far too many cautions and inevitably suspending ensued.
All well and good part of his game but he could become someone who will lose out on minutes when getting cautioned so much as to be on safe side be subbed off or rotated as well as suspended and then unable to get back straight into team as squad becomes competitive.
Point being some of his cautions are avoidable. Yet he'll persist in mindless tackling which prohibits both him and the team.
