One thing is for certain -

Some will like it, some won't.

Pass it on

I just hope Mr 1977 knows what colour claret is and tells whoever has that pallette code used by Macron and UA to shove it where the sun don't shine.

Hopefully you will be right...Luke 1977 may take inspiration and justification for the design using part of their own brand name and that may result in a replica from that year. Fingers crossed it’s a good design and uses the right colours whatever they come up with!

I admit to becoming more and more annoyed about this, as new (purple) kits come and go! Has anybody ever come up with a reason for them getting it wrong?

It could have originally arisen from a transition to digital specifications, combined with certain people's monitors not being properly calibrated. The pantone that apparently Macron and UA use does look right to me - on certain flatscreen monitors with certain colour settings. However, that does not excuse the continuation of the wrong colours once whoever at the club had seen the first samples.

When you've had Macron, absolutely anything is an improvement.
I've still got the c***!

Post of the season.

I might be getting broody but I loved the part of the video when Luke let his little lion cubs loose on VP.

Anyone still think it's not going to matter that he's a fan?

Me. If the design looks right and the quality's there I'm not fussed either way.

Let's hope we're not just a tad naive about the fact he's a Villa fan.

He's a bloke and he designs stuff. People will still love it or hate it; who he supports isn't really relevant.

Pretty much this.

Not really, if you asked most people on here, or any other fan site, what a villa kit should look like you'd get fairly similar answers:

proper claret body (not some pinky purple)
blue sleeves
white shorts
and a disagreement over the socks (blue for me)

Given he's a fan he'll know those 'rules'.  That doesn't mean he'll feel obliged to follow them but if he chooses not to it it won't be through ignorance, that's the real difference.

Can't be that difficult hitting claret? from Wiki.

but that's the point, listening to that I think he'll take it personally if the design and/or quality isn't good enough.

Assuming he was born in 77, I’m guessing our early 80s kits will be out of memory for him. Yes , he has seen them obviously, but would they hold a special significance to him ? The late 80s kits maybe more his abiding early memories?

My first match was 82 and that years kit is still probably my favourite ever, as it was my first involvement with us ?

I’m hoping the Henson Kit wasn’t his !!!

He says in the video that one of his favourites is the Hummel 87/88 kit, same as me. Watching that I think it will look great and remember in 12 months time we will be having this same conversation again about what the following seasons kit will look like.

I think it will definitely make a difference that he's a fan of the villa. The guy is clearly very proud to have got the gig and he is going to put his heart and soul into getting it right. Fair play to him and good luck to him. UTV
