Missed an easy blue trying to split reds with giddy dreams of getting to fifty. I could have had a thirty-two break, still haunts me.You were trying to split reds, mate. You have my undying respect. My record is 33. I played a bit around 15/16. I had a mate though who was both incredibly good (entered comps) and also a massive* ******, so when school ended I lost touch with him and snooker. I had a few attempts playing pool last year and I was embarrassed at how shite I was.*the biggest head I have seen, both physically and ego. I remember a photo on a coach where the size difference of his head compared to others the same age genuinely made him look like a different species. He was like a walking vinyl pop. Oh and he was a ******. Can't get that across enough.

Quote from: cdbearsfan on April 27, 2025, 11:15:26 PMIt's mad that people can make a hundred centuries in a season. Alex Higgins made 87 in his entire career. Ray Reardon made 54 and he won six world titles. I get that they play more matches nowadays but, even so, ridiculous standard. You only had to watch the re-showing of the 'Black Ball final' last night to see that the standard is far higher now. Today's equipment may be marginally better, but lots of the current players would have battered Steve Davis in his prime.

John Virgo and John Parrot were talking about this on the comms last night. They kept saying how much better the baize is now, and that it allows greater positioning of the cueball. Rather like how football pitches used to be as opposed to now
It's probably 25+ years since I played snooker, but I think my highest break is around 30. I'm pretty decent at pool (eight-ball rather than nine-ball) but never been much cop at snooker.
All the cool people have a high break of 27. Me, you, Kurt Cobain, the lot.
