It's mad that people can make a hundred centuries in a season. Alex Higgins made 87 in his entire career. Ray Reardon made 54 and he won six world titles. I get that they play more matches nowadays but, even so, ridiculous standard.
That's what Mr Google tells me. They're definitely both under a hundred according to this well-maintained list...https://snookerinfo.co.uk/
Whilst on the matter of breaks my highest is 121Red Yellow RedOr in the words of Old Willie Thorne, Red Yella Red
27 is also my highest break. Missed an easy blue trying to split reds with giddy dreams of getting to fifty. I could have had a thirty-two break, still haunts me.
Instead of a bum, which is what I am...
It's easier to make centuries now than it was back in the day, the tables are much quicker, cushions are livelier and more consistent. Obviously the standard is incredible now but even Judd Trump with his cue power would struggle on those old 80s Riley tables never mind 70s tables. Even little things like the new chalk they use, far fewer kicks and look at the cloth after a sesseion and then look at one after a frame or two with the old chalk.
The pockets on pro tables are 100 percent cut tighter than a club table. Selby’s practice table at the club he plays at is in an open plan room next to the club tables. The difference is like night and day.Yes like Rory suggests all the other factors make the game blooming hard on a club table. The pros get as close to perfect conditions with slate heaters new quality cloths etc regardless of where they play…you could compare it to playing football on Premier league football pitches or trying to play on Oaklands Rec
