Just got back after ploughing through the snow back to North Yorkshire.
It was absolute garbage. Not sure what else to say.
Except that the subbing was unreal ... chucking 4 strikers up top and exp3cting to suddenly turn it all around seems bizarre.
Except that we really lack creativity through the middle of the park.
Except that Bolton really were gash and rode their luck.

Terrible.

It's not going to get any easier. Going to Hull, Ipswich, Norwich, Millwall are all tough. Home to Derby and kicker Cardiff also tough. We need to guarantee a play off spot.  I have so little faith in Bruce, just as we seem to be doing well, we think we've cracked it and fall apart.
all of a sudden a guaranteed play off spot doesn't looked nailed on does it ? - whilst Wolves was commendable let's reflect on the performances against Fulham,Preston QPR and Bolton - doesn't inspire confidence does it ?

Reflect on Wolves, Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday..

It's easy being miserable and seeing the worst. But look at our form over the past dozen games, 27 points is it?

25. W8 D1 L3.

I'm not really sure what your points are Drummond and PWS?  Going into the last few games and hopefully the play offs, our results recently, don't inspire confidence. We focus on the games we've won rather than we've lost? Yeah ok, but the point is still the same about being nervous and not totally confident.

I’m not wailing with despair but I am royally fucked off after the summit (I thought) we reached of beating the dingles soundly and going up automatically with the squad we have showing their ability only to fuck it up twice in a matter of days.

I’ve seen some crap this season and wondered how Bruce ever became a manager. I’ve then seen some victories and thought he’s not so bad after all.

I’m pondering now that practicality is in Bruce’s mind that autos has gone so mix the fringe players plus kids to fulfill our last 8 games while the seniors take a breather.

We had 70 mins to score today and Bruce brings on 2 kids, at this stage of the game, at this stage of the season. Total plank.

He gambled that the same team v hoops could carry on the same intensity but could have changed it half time. Total plank.

2 weeks to stew now and counting the minutes before some twat says hull is a must win. Which we won’t.

My point was that it was 25 points, not 27.

The wheels have well and truly come off the juggernaut this week
Unbelievable until you realise you are talking about the Villa
For us "old uns it's like a 're- run of watching the club over the last 50+ years -  I feel for my son's'generation
Once again he looks me in the eye and says
" we really are shit aren't we?"
Hard to argue

Well, it's not really that hard to argue. Two piss poor results, but were you and your son sharing that sentiment this time last week?

I doubt it.

Yes, today was awful, and so was QPR, but let's get a grip here.

We are fourth, it's a fucking long season, bad results happen.

We have been considerably shitter than we currently are for almost the entirety of the last seven years.
Like 99% of most Villa fans we were surprised, nay shocked at the Wolves result -  so subsequently losing to teams placed 15th and 18/19th  just a few days later Is in my book
,shit.
Our shittiness has been varying in degrees over the last 7  years and I like many have seen leaner years but given the money spent I think it is reasonable to expect better results and performances - ok yes shit happens but how many of us would have taken wins/draws over Fulham, qpr and Bolton over a win over local opponents Wolves
Over reaction from me and junior? Maybe but let's be honest the last two performances and results have been dire -  Or put another way, shit ergo we are currently shit whether 4th or not :)
We are Villa mad which what makes us so irrational when we lose to the likes of QPR 1-3 at home
Still we can no longer compete with the likes of Burnley,Huddersfield,Brighton et al including mighty Cardiff

The last two performances - what about the previous dozen or so?

It's seven days since we were all on a high because we'd battered Wolves. You might have been shocked, but I don't know why - look at our record in the matches running up to that game.

I don't like losing to QPR and Bolton either, but really, so many people are indulging in ridiculously over the top #sadnessintheireyes style wailing, it's ridiculous.
j
Wake up and smell the coffee -  maybe, just maybe those with "sadness in their eyes" are being realistic in their take on things rather than those burying their heads in the sand and ignoring the poor performances this squad are serving up ..... fine we got some results but we have been on the receiving end ( injuries aside in some cases) of lady luck. Swings and roundabouts I guess and yes we have somehow got more points on the board than this time last year but we have not been consistently outstanding or commanding - as ever we seem to plunge into a "bad patch" at a crucial time -  it's all about opinions and we all want the same outcome  - I fear that we may be letting a playoff position slip - just a week ago some on here were making ridiculous statements about Wolves bottling it after one heavy defeat - I bet there are a few in the Black Country  pissing themselves after some of our fans deluded musings after the game - the ship needs steadying and confidence restoring in the coming fortnight - this isn't a snipe at Bruce but I wonder how much the loss of his father has taken out of him - such things are far more important than football and perhaps some time over the next week to be able to mourn his loss will be beneficial - he has been professional thus far but he is only human and the stress of being in the play offs - if we get there- will be an additional burden on him -I wouldn't be surprised to see him relinquish his role whether we go up or not - especially if his mother is still ill
I agree with what AndyM is saying on the Bruce Out? Thread

I totally agree Paulie. It has happened after a number of defeats this season. People who want the manager and players to show some bottle don't show one bit of bottle themselves when we lose. People can't lecture the team on manning up when they themselves constantly act like a bunch of big girls blouses (a wonderful old fashioned term that is very underused these days  ;)) every time we  lose a match. To quote Delia, 'Come on, let's be 'avin ya'!

I feel that our senior pro's have too much respect. Take Snograss - always on the right wing. no pace always checks back. yes, he has come inside scored and provided the odd cross.

One thing that bugs me  even more today - why do we never switch the wingers even for 10 mins just to confuse the opposition.

Uncle Albert and Snograss are playing on the wrong wings.

I’m with you guys. Hysterical ramblings after victories and defeats. It is what it is.

For the record I think we’ll make it when it gets down to one off games.
But the world won’t end if we don’t make it.

Terrible result on the back of Tuesday but I think the conditions affected us more than them.

Automatic is gone and financial Armageddon awaits if we stay here, are the players up to the pressure? There are certainly question marks.

Well the Gods conspired today. We weren’t that bad but the weather, the shit ref. the thugs and downright bad luck did us. I almost feel sorry for Bruce
Rubbish.  His subs did us.

Well if those they replaced had done their jobs today - then he wouldn't have resorted to 4 strikers & hoofball tactics.

I've been as critical as most regarding Bruce & his management, but it's high time the players took responsibility for the crap performances of late. Yes the buck stops with the boss, but too many of our team have switched off when they need to be performing to their potential. Bruce obviously has to be measured and stoic in front of the cameras, but I bet he's fuckin' seething tonight. And who could possibly blame him?

To be fair I think people get emotional because we're all so desperate for some success and to get back where we belong. It's in the DNA of the football supporter to overreact to every defeat, and every victory.
