We are in  danger of becoming like Arsenal fans whereby we expect constant success.  I'll get me coat ...and with the weather like this me wellies as well.

Admittedly I’d had a beer but I thought Lansbury played well first half, he used the ball well and quickly before he inevitably tired. His fitness levels are really poor and it doesn’t reflect well on the staff that he still can’t last out a game.

So Aston Villa fans should just accept being a Championship club without demanding anything more than that then?
Okay.

We won't win football matches when most moves start with Johnstone or a defender hoofing the ball up the field. The ball just comes back which is why Millwall had most of the chances. The only success was when we played from the back and played it on the floor as we did in most of the last 25 minutes with some success.

I don't understand why Jack doesn't start. Is he still injured or is Bruce worried that if he plays too much Premier League clubs will want to sign him? And was Hutton injured as any decent forward play before he went off came through him.

Doesnt reflect well on Lansbury as a professional either

I agree with you about Lansbury's first half display, but once again yet another dismal performance. Apart obviously from Johnstone, poor in all other areas of the pitch. Only other plus was Grealish when he came off, surely he will start on Saturday. What's happened to Callum O'Hare, unless he's injured, can't believe he was not even on the bench yesterday. Adomah seems totally wasted on the wing, I would play him upfront at Derby.

It was his first start for nearly 3 months after injury, pretty much every player on the planet would fade fitness wise.

We're playing dismally but still somehow managing to scrape together points. It's the Bruce way.

One of the best racing bon mots Auntie also applies to football.  If you want to make a small fortune, start with a large one.

Nice one Mr G! Your excellent bon mot-age is always a joy to behold. :)

ps In addition to our growing cache of crafty analogies, I'm hoping somebody local to BH can paint 'By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail' on a large sheet & drape it over the wall by the main gates. Any embellishment with 'industrial language' would, of course, be purely optional.

Hasn't Mighty Steve said Lansbury was injured again?

I thought his range of passing was good yesterday as well, but him and Whelan hardly won a second ball in midfield all game.

Bruce will fall on his sword eventually by his negative subs. Where was Harry McKirdy, Callum  O'Hare?. There are just not enough attacking options.

Doubt it, he clearly believes he's the man for the job, even though how we play most weeks, is pretty dire and should we somehow manage to be promoted, without better players and a manager who has more nous than Bruce, we will struggle to stay in the Premiership.

Lansbury played better in the 1st half than the second for me. That being said I noticed (sitting in the lower north) that he missed a number of diagonal forward runs by Adomah that Hourihane may have spotted because he is more used to Adomah playing on the left. This is something Bruce needs to consider if he decides to change his midfield players.
