Despite spending a lot of money pretty badly we ended up 1 game short so it's not much of a leap to think that better use of the money spent under both RDM and Bruce would see us kicking off next season as a PL club. So throwing money at it could/would have worked if we'd spent it better, and/or coached the players better.
