I suspect that the defence will be right, Green will play on the left with Bacuna partnering Whelan in midfield and Lansbury will be just in behind Gabby.

Which is still a pretty decent 11, and more than enough to beat Hull. A good start and I can see us bossing this division all season, they need some confidence and for Bruce to let them play farther up the pitch. If we come out of the traps fast I think he will run with it.

Hull have got some good players at this level

It's their defence I think we can get at.

Apparently you can get 80-1 on Terry 1-0 . .

Match abandoned due to Hull's coach accidentally wandering onto the closed Aston Expressway and being taken out by anti-terror police.

I know its only the first game of the season but we really need to win this one.

Is this the earliest ever sighting of "we really need to win this one"?

Agree with jwarry on this one. Just take one look at the table. We are only separated by alphabetical order, that's how tight it is! This is a classic six-pointer, against our title/promotion/playoff/relegation rivals, if ever I saw one.

As I've already said, this will be one of the easiest games of the season. Think West Ham, August 2010.

I'm sticking with 4-0.

Agree

I'm going with a Hull supporting relative and he's telling me they've sold all the decent players they have, not bothered replacing them, and look destined to go down rather than up.

If we can't beat this shit, we might as well give up.

Win by 3 goals*

* fuck knows how we're going to actually score those goals, though.

Hernandez, Diomande, Clucas, Grosicki are all good players at prem level

But I agree the squad otherwise has players I've never seen plus Michael Dawson

Just hoping we've got the punch to hurt the when we're on top (which I expect to be for large spells)

When was the last time we scored 4 in a game?  We'll huff and puff to a 1-0 and make an easy job look difficult.  That's us.

Sunderland away under Sherwood. Only time we've scored 4 in a league game the last 3 seasons.

Wonder if Onomah will start? Would assume he's sub but you never know

If so I reckon it's Lansbury and whelan alongside him, Elmo and green wide, and probably gabby up top

Pretty pumped for tomorrow now. Just win villa. Any sort will do frankly

What we don't want to be looking at tomorrow evening is 'reality check' posts.
