The Spurs double team of the 60s were the best for me.  Which is why I have had over 50 years of disliking them so much as a club although this team and manager are not so bad.

Correct. I reckon this is the best Spuds team in my lifetime and they've still won bugger all. I just can't see their star players or Pochettino hanging around for many more years of close calls.

I don't think they have a side better than the one that won two FA cups and the UEFA cup in the eighties. Clemence, Danny Thomas, Hughton, Miller, Roberts, Gary Stevens, Mabbutt, Hoddle, Villa, Ardiles, Hazard, Galvin and strikers like Crooks, Archibald, Alan Brazil and Mark Falco.

As for the media love in, the love is starting to fade. Most comments I hear about them at the moment involve their nearly men status and how they need to start fulfilling their promise with a trophy.

I would exclude Alan Brazil, 9 goals in 31 apps, from the strikers mentioned. The big question, particularly if he has a good World Cup, will they be able to keep hold of Harry Kane next season.

My view is that Spurs blew the most open and easiest chance of ever winning the PL by managing to lose out to......Leicester.

I saw Alan Brazil have a nightmare at Villa Park in a Spurs shirt once. I think it was a game between Christmas and New Year and he missed loads of chances, one of them at the Holte End which was possibly second only to Ronnie Rosenthal's.

Just looked it up 27th Dec 1983. Villa - Spink Williams (sub Walker) Deacy Evans Ormsby Curbishley McMahon Mortimer Rideout Walters Withe

Spurs - Clemence, Thomas, Hughton, Roberts, O'Reilly, Perryman, Stevens, Hoddle, Galvin (sub Falco), Archibald, Brazil

No.  For those of us that were alive then to see it will understand why.  If you think the modern day media fawning over the Sky elite was OTT, you should have seen it back then.  Every sports page in the papers and Saturday football exploits was all Tottenham, it's no wonder a lot of us old gits dislike them and find it hard to let go.

Man utd 2-0 Liverpool

Deserved lead. Ashley young keeping mo salah very quiet have to say he's in line for England lwb slot world cup. Can't see a better player currently playing regularly. Danny Rose hasn't the height or consistency defending. Bertrand been average this season.

Milner captain for Liverpool and looks way off the pace.

Rashford scored a great first goal and Southgate watching from the stands.
Think this could end up a big margin win as Liverpool haven't been able to play united too powerful.

Maybe a 4-1 score line?

Side note Liverpool defending hasn't been good enough what so ever.

Looking at the Blose lineup, it's not the worst team they've had.

They shouldn't be near the bottom. But it's funny.

Exactly, could not have put it better.  Media fawning didn't stop there, Hoddle's love in for international recognition with no regard for Cowans and Robson.

Hoddle *was* a brilliant player though. Not that Cowans wasn’t, and Robson not the same type of player.
