it says something about where we are when we have spent more than anyone in this league has ever done, rebuilt the midfield bought in a new manager who is a promotion specialist and knows the championship inside out and had been here for a good few months now

and most people on here think we are going to get tonked tonight

What is says is that we are on our second rebuild of the season playing against a team almost assured of automatic promotion. I am not expecting us to get tonked but they are clear obvious favourites.

I shall be out for most of this game, so it'd be nice to have a pleasant surprise when I check the score.

I cannot recall the last time I felt legitimately confident going into a game. Same again tonight. I really want to know how that feels again.

I'm expecting an improved performance tonight. I'm not expecting any points.

So...
We haven't won since  boxing day 2016...
We are away....
We facing Newcastle who wants to reclaim top position.
The game is broadcasted on TV.

Yeah...that's going to end well. 3 points.

With the likes of Johnstone,Hutton and Baker in the defence i can't see anything other than a defeat  3-1 to them

Our last win away was 19th December 2016 against QPR but I agree can't see anything but a loss

Watching game in pub. Bound to be more noses in there than villa fans as well. Reckon we might draw but probably lose as Bruce looking broken in interview and saying it isn't about performance....hardly a braveheart rally the troops cry so reckon ultra defensive set up that is frightening. As we don't have a defence. Micha Richards to be our messiah?😞

At 7-1 I am betting the farm...
Then again as a Villa fan backing the team this year...the farm isn't that big anymore.  :'(

I feel we are going to be pleasantly surprised tonight. We are more than overdue a result, 2-0 Villa.

1-1 Hogan to break his duck.

That'd be nice.

On the face of it this should be a procession for the home side but the one thing you can guarantee with Villa is that whenever you think you've got them sussed and a result is inevitable something extraordinary happens.

Reasons for optimism no science, no surprise team selection or killer formation it's just that I'm going. I haven't seen us lose up there and I haven't seen us lose a league game this season. For the 2000 of us going, stiff upper lip, smile shake hands with the enemy (most of them are decent football folk like ourselves) and sing the roof off the place.

Outstanding.

Are you betting on 7-1 Newcastle?
