Any recommendations of where to go for a reasonable pint?

Crown Posada down towards the Quayside, still only 15 minutes walk to the ground,  the Strawberry near the ground will probably be rammed.

Good shout on the Posada, the Bridge Tavern, just down from there and ....er....under the bridge..... is also a great pub.  I moved up to Newcastle last year but not being a ST holder at VP I've had to risk it all and borrow a mates ST in the home end.  Hoping I only have to fake frustration rather than elation.

I can't see us getting anything to be honest but I hope i'm wrong. Respect to everyone who's making the journey up there.

Last time I did that was when Uriah Rennie sent Shearer off and Joachim scored, I survived but only because I kept my mouth shut and was sat in between a couple of mates!

I'd go with Guzan, Okore, Clark, Lescott, Cissokho, Westwood, Gil, Veretout, Adama, Gestede and Ayew

0-4

i know that team is a shower of something Lobsterboy but it does show how much our team has changed in 12months. I don't think you can underestimate the overhaul that has taken place, especially when you consider that Championship clubs generally don't spend much and therefore probably don't have that much transition in terms of squad personnel. Their settled sides v our getting to know you side is one of the key reasons we are where we are

Can't see past a defeat. I'll have some hope that we will one day "click" and that this is the day.....but then I'll see the line up he's picked.
Have put a fiver on us leading at half time and losing at full time. I know that means we have to score but hey, nobody chucks a lead away like we do.
God this is depressing !! :-) It'll be fun in the Championship they said...at least we'll win games they said...:-(

Unfortunately we're really good at ending runs like that when it's for the benefit of the opposition so that stat actually makes me feel worse.

It's a bit like buying a lottery ticket. You dream of winning but you know the odds in your favour. After only 4 balls have been drawn out you through your ticket in the bin thinking there's always next week.

I did the same a few years ago when i was living up there. I borrowed a season ticket holders spare ticket next to my mate, in the Gallowgate End. The crowd sussed me out straight away, as i obviously wasn't the usual Geordie sitting there, and the Brummie accent gave it away, and they made a few passive agressive remarks about behaving myself.
They went 2-0 up so i stood up when they scored, just to blend in, then late on Merson scored with an absolute peach of a goal, i sat on my hands, said nothing and smiled to myself and my mate.
In a way i was happy i wasn't tempted to celebrate a winning goal, as i don't think they would have took it well.
Good luck

it says something about where we are when we have spent more than anyone in this league has ever done, rebuilt the midfield bought in a new manager who is a promotion specialist and knows the championship inside out and had been here for a good few months now

and most people on here think we are going to get tonked tonight
