At least now we're not in a position of having to keep a Manager or players based on cost reasons rather than ability. Personally i'd rather start from scratch again with someone given the mandate to build an attractive youthful team to get us up over the next 2/3 seasons. if we're gonna be limited by FFP then at least set the foundations on something long term we can build on with the right player added now and then. Not sure Investors want to wait years for a return though.

Several papers running Thierry Henry this morning.
Hmmm. Not sure about his capabilities but a lot would depend who comes with him as his coaching team - Wenger as Football Director?

I wasn’t endorsing the appointment. But agree it’s a big job for whoever gets it.

For me it depends on what the proportion timeline is and whether that fits with any new manager.  For example we could say it’s 2-3 years and our new young manager does a great job and then gets poached by a top six club.

My worry about big player appointments is they are naturally ambitious.

More importantly Bruce has to be told - told not requested - to make full and better use of our own young players.  If there is any message that the new owners need to send out it is that the days of old, injury prone, unmotivated, slow, bargain basement shirt fillers are over.  We nurture our own resources, we bring young players on, we reap the benefits.  No more nodding towards a youth policy by bringing on our young players for the last ten minutes of games while betting the mortgage on worn out old pluggers.

Agree 100%.
Suddenly we have an incredible opportunity right now.
A chance to have all the right people in all the right places with experienced and successful owners.
What an opportunity this is?

There's always going to be media talk of new manager's when new owners or investors come and at the end of the day, it's their call. It wouldn't surprise me if a change was made. If they do, I just hope some thought goes into it rather than plucking Theirry Henry out of the air because he's a well known name although that could well just be paper nonsense as well.

I can’t see Bruce being here by Christmas, as it’s pretty rare for new owners not to want their own man in place. However if he is still here at Christmas I’d expect that we’d be doing very well, so win win.

Really don't want to be in the limited christmas managerial merry go-round again. People know we have backers now so we should be an attractive proposition to a manager already employed. Persuading an employed manager to jump ship in december is gonna be tricky especially if his team is doing well and we're not.

That’s true.
New owners will have their own ideas so it’s inevitable that there will be a change now.
Like others my wish was for him to stay purely for stability but overnight so to speak thats changed.

In our football world these could now be wonderful Illuminating times.

Maybe not but there are practicalities of timing to consider. Firstly we’ve no idea how much the new investors are willing, and able(FFP), to plough into the first team squad. Secondly the transfer window closes in a couple of weeks, so even if we can put some cash into the first team there is virtually no time to get a manager in, who would need to identify targets, assess existing players etc. It just doesn’t seem feasible for a number of reasons.

This, for me, is almost like turning the clock back 2 years. New investment and a real opportunity to rebuild properly with new thinking. Let’s not go the same way again in sticking with “safe hands” Bruce. We’ve had a reprieve thank god so let’s really start again with a positive forward thinking coach who will get the best out of the young talent we have here

Thierry Henry was working as assistant to Martinez with the Belgium squad at the World Cup; it didn't do them much good.

Just sayin'. Whistly emoticon.

With respect, there's a massive difference between that and coming into a club like ours. He may be a superb coach or assistant for all i know but there's plenty of excellent coaches/assistants who can't do the managerial bit

How long does it take to recruit a new manager? With only too and half weeks of the transfer window left it’s a massive risk to change now, to go through the recruitment process and then expect a new bloke to have time time to assess the squad and then strengthen before the season starts?

I think some of you are letting your dislike for Bruce as a manager get in the way of common sense.

Maybe, but for his supporters it seems its never the right time to get rid of him. failed promotion - give him another season. Another failed promotion - we don't need change with our money worries. New owners - too late to change. perhaps there is some magical set of circumstances were his replacement could be considered perhaps when the moon aligns with the Mayan calender?
