Next season is going to be about stabilisation and developing the kids

Exactly right. And Bruce has never developed the kids at any club he's been at.

So Smith, or any other up-and-coming manager, is no bigger risk than keeping Bruce. And would quite probably be on less money into the bargain.

With our problems now I'm not sure Smith would even want to come.

It would be a bit like Grayson walking out of a very stable job at Preston into the madhouse of Sunderland and predictably lasting three months. He was last at Bradford in league one.

Plenty of risk for Smith coming here considering he got Brentford very close to the play offs last season.

With the left field risk I was more on about a Garde style type appointment from abroad, bit like Barnsley appointing Mourinho's mate mid season and him promptly relegating them or SHA appointing Zola.

Of course loads will point out Nuno but the squad we start the season with is going to be nothing like Wolves had.

Garde would probably have been a perfect appointment when we first came down. What he did at Lyon would have been lovely to watch unfold at Villa

I’d expect the role of Round is to take a lot of the other roles and pressure and leave the manager to focus on the 1st team only?

According to the Telegraph, Leeds are sounding out Bruce's advisers on whether he would be interested in their vacancy.

Well if he's up for it and leeds ask for permission, tell them we'll waive any compensation as long as they take on richards at the same time.

If he does go to Leeds then who do we get it in, without paying compo, that is any better and cheaper?

I'm pretty sure Bruce is on a rolling contract so no compo to pay and no cost for us to get rid!

I thought Leeds had appointed their latest manager that I had never heard of recently?

nah hits us with FFP if its ross. Richards is perfect. End of the day if they give us compensation for Bruce, it's dead money to them. If they just pay us to take over richards contract, they get an england international who's *cough* fit, but just resting at the moment *cough* Great guy to have around as well...........

What I meant was most decent managers are already employed so we would have to then play compo

He'd be mad to go there the way their managerial turnover has been.

Hah yeah, Leeds are just the sort of mental club that would look at what's happened to us and say "well it nearly worked, why don't we have go"
