No point sacking Bruce now, but should face that question at the end of the season regardless of what division we are in. I guess though, if we do go up he will start the season as manager

But then want Bruce sacked the moment we lose a match.
No no one wants that however myself and many others want him sacked for being so far behind Cardiff and Wolves and that’s not losing one match.

You really want Bruce sacked now?

I don't think anybody is stupid enough to want him sacked now with so few and important games left to play. I also doubt there are many stupid enough to give him next season without fully evaluating his work since he's been here. Whatever you think of Bruce today, he needs to be judged at the end of the season and until then we need to get behind the team and pray we can get promoted this season, one way or another.

Your spot on mate, nothing would be gained from sacking him now. Whatever happens though at the end of the season he must be judged on his entire tenure as our manager not just the next 8 weeks. For me He was the wrong man when he was hired and he’s the wrong man now.

In 18 months, he has turned the side around and got us in the the top four.  The key questions is; given another season, will he finish the job and get us up?  We were a basket case of a club with a crap mentality before he came.  He's spent quite a lot of money but arguably, not really got the best out of his resources and the club will need to weigh up the facts of the whole tenure as Allen C states.  Is there anyone else out there who can do a better job, given the limited resources that the club could be facing this summer? Will we see yet another overhaul of the side when we all know that we need some solidity and consistency?  I am not sure that the club will sack Bruce, given that we have made progress under him, albeit slowly and with the stakes so high.  I honestly cannot see it.

Again, this solidity and consistency isn't possible, because Bruce built a side around ageing players and loans so we have a rebuild in the summer regardless of the league we're in and regardless of whether we want it or not.

There clearly won't be any change before the end of the season, it would be pointless at best but I hope "he didn't fail by much" isn't the decisive part of the decision because I honestly think the job next season is a very different one to the job for the last couple and we should be looking for a manager with experience in doing it.

I think they will fathom that Bruce has that experience Paul-e.  It's a tough decision for them.  Stick or twist?  I certainly take your point about the loan signings though, three of the five have been really good.  I guess, the other argument, to play both sides is that Bruce seems to have underused the younger players, arguably alienating them? It's a massive decision and I don't really care either way.  No guarantees either way.

He has underused the youth players, i think that's clear and that's why i don't think he's right for a job of building a team around them.

playing devils advocate- are the kids good enough?
From what I saw at Bury recently it's doubtful  - ok one game is hardly representative but there was no set pattern or play or any outstanding individuals - the Under 23 `s seem to be doing ok but   again are they strong enough for the Championship ? Having said that QPR did a number on us recently with a young side

Keep seeing this accusation levelled at him, I’ve never watched the youth team but I assume those who accuse him of this have spent a lot of time watching them?

I've seen enough of o'hare to know he deserved a chance ahead of a completely out of form Onomah a while back, I've seen enough of RHM to know he should be a big part of the squad and I've seen enough of 2-3 others to know that they're too good for the U23s but are stuck because we won't let them out on loan and won't pick them for the seniors.

I don't think Bruce hasthe imagination or mental agility to get results from young, cheap untried players.  He is a big budget manager.  There will not be a big budget next year if we stay down.

I’m not sure how Bruce is a big budget manager given his previous promotions have been achieved without a big budget. In fact if Bruce wasn’t our manager right now, if we didn’t get promotion with whoever was and he was available next season given our FFP challenges I’d say he’d be a decent choice.
