Interview in the E&S: https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/aston-villa/2020/08/22/big-interview-dont-go-writing-conor-hourihane-off-hes-proved-the-doubters-wrong-before/

Until we find someone who directly contributes to goals more than he does, I think he should be on the pitch for at least a part of every game.

Whoever could he mean ?

They always want more and that is a natural thing because it is such a big club. Some lads can handle that and some can’t.

I wouldn't include Targett in that list, no way. He may have struggled at times, but he played his part in keeping us up.

Conor Hourihane, bagged his first league goal of the season at Fulham before turning provider shortly after the break, setting up Tyrone Mings for his first league goal of 2020/21. Hourihane's goal came from one of two shots and assist from one of three key passes.
Who scored rated him 8.51 performance

Brilliant purchase. He has his flaws but his set piece delivery has provided so many assists the last 3 years.

For all the money we've spent, our midfield 5 of: McGinn, Hourihane, Luiz, Trezeguet and Grealish  cost less than £30m for 5 players.

Targett shits himself if Jack isn't around to hold his hand. I thought he really improved after lockdown but last night was further proof that the lad can't defend. I couldn't understand why Fulham stopped targeting him second half.

Article states £1 million. That can’t be right?

Think he was coming to the end of his contract.

Big job on Conor's hands now to stay in the first team with Barkley's arrival.

That's good though, it makes the squad and the bench even stronger.

Yep, to be fair to Conor, throughout his entire career, every time he's faced a challenge he's stepped up to it.

I think he's a model professional but isn't good enough to take us where we want to go. He's certainly lower down the pecking order than Luis and McGinn.  But he'll get his head down even more now Barkley's here and I wouldn't bet against him stepping up again.
