Conor Hourihane - thanks and farewell

The thing is, he's great to have as a regularly involved member of the squad, but he's not someone that you want starting week in week out if you've got any serious intent on trying to get promoted. He certainly went up a few more rungs in the likeability scale yesterday and as pointed out, he's been excellent value for money.

Westwood seems to be doing ok for the other clarets so I think Conor deserves a shot at the PL, more to work with

I think he's toughened up a lot recently and it's made him a better player. He's getting his foot in more. He tracks back better. On the other end of the pitch his goals and assists have never been an issue. I don't think he'll play every single week, but for me he'll be invaluable next season and a threat from set pieces too. I see him as a fitter Charlie Adam, if you think back to him hitting the Prem initially. He may still drift out of games (though that is improving too for me) but you're always likely to get a good set piece, or a killer pass from Conor. Or a goal. He's better than a lot of midfielders in the bottom 12 of the Prem that's for sure. We need only look at our old boy Westwood who's doing okay in the Prem now. Hourihane is miles better.

ASHLEY Westwood was the big winner at the Clarets' annual Player of the Year awards night on Sunday.

The midfielder won the club's official award which was voted for by supporters – and made it a memorable night by also being named Players' Player of the Year by his Burnley team mates.

Westwood picked up the awards at a gala awards night that took place at Turf Moor as a reward for a fantastic season, which saw the 29-year-old play a key part in helping Sean Dyche's side secure a fourth successive season in the Premier League.

The former Aston Villa man has started 30 league matches in his most productive campaign in a Claret shirt.

And his performances, driving Sean Dyche's side on from the middle of the pitch, were pivotal in the eight-match unbeaten run from the turn of the year which propelled the Clarets towards safety.

The 29-year-old also played a part in the Burnley's historic run to the final qualifying round of the Europa League and, as well as topping the club's Premier League goal assist tally with seven, also scored his first goals for the club.

"They're special awards. I never expected it and to have the lads and the fans voting for me is a great honour," added Westwood.

"I am very proud to collect these awards and I can't thank the players and the fans enough.

"For me, it's the best season I've ever had and that's down to the lads and the staff.

"I want to kick on and now do even better in a claret shirt."

For me Conor Hourihane is a player who has responded to coaching and constructive criticism. He’s far braver in challenges, works hard all over the pitch and is remains a goal threat. Another who has a great attitude and appreciates his professional journey that has got him to where he is. For a cracking PL squad player who won’t let us down.

Well on Saturday there was no sideways taps it was just receive the ball turn around and drill it forward in the channel every time and  the one Adomah picked up well rest is history.
