Conors strengths  -  Shooting, scoring, assisting, being a goal threat, free kicks

Conors weaknesses - everything else

play him in the front 3

Sorry exactly where would that be ??
He's a Midfielder by trade not fit to be an attacking wide forward or striker for me

You do know he’s scored more goals than any of our actual strikers this season

Considering I contribute in posting of  stats and info brought to attention for people here  I think I'm well aware of goals of villa players .

A support striker or  an attacking midfielder playing high up the pitch well ok. A wide forward or actual striker - I personally find absurd.
Its preposterous to me and my football know how to advocate Hourihane as a number 9.
I know Smith is for developing players but deploying Conor as the central striker is not wise.
Simply to stay in the team he must assert himself on the field with the ball and also make forward runs and cover .
It's about what a player does off the ball as much as on it.
Off the ball as a striker doesn't warrant the thought for me.

Does anyone read your stats, though? And who's to say they aren't made up, anyway?

I mentioned on the Wesley thread that he could possibly operate as a false 9, as long as he knows what one is because I'm not sure I do.
Is it where you don't play a recognised striker, à la Messi?

I think so!

If you want a false 9 or even a 9 Jota is our man not Conor.
Jota can bring others in to play . And midfielder can get beyond him and into box.
Jota hasn't the pace even of firmino but Jota ability wise can look to link.
The alternative is having a  central position for el ghazi or
Trezeguet .

Firstly I'm highly insulted and secondary that exact reason I didn't bring a be topic thread about Aston villa season stats 2019/20
Detailing shots , fouls , possession
Touches in penalty box

I don't think many seem so interested so did courtesy.
The insult is that it's suggested I made it up.
I'm passing on valuable info for those who like some data.
No need to be cruel especially at Xmas.

What like stating Trez played 70 minutes for Egypt at half time? Not saying you made it up, I'm guessing you've yet to fully understand how to tell the time.

How many times does Smith need to see Hourihane play before he works out that he can not defend at all?

Believe it or not, of the 4 (yes four) tackles our starting midfield three made all game yesterday, Hourihane contributed 50% of them!

He’s be better as one of the narrow front three. He isn’t a premier league starter.

There were people playing in our midfield?

I like Conor, but he was abysmal yesterday,

The part before their fifth goal where he didn't press or tackle the City players, but flapped his arms around whilst running was the icing on the cake.
