Conor played well again tonight, provided an assist and a great strike for his goal.

The two trick man, goals and assists. Very sharp tonight on the ball in open play too.

Games like this at home at home, were the opponents have little intent on attacking and we need something different to open them up is were Conors worth to the team is. Links up very well with Jack too.

I really like seeing Hourihane and Jack link up like they did for the goal the other day.  If we had a better / in-form holding midfielder I think Conor would get better reviews as he adds a lot when we're on the front foot.

Deserves to start today.

I think he's anonymous far too often.  Whilst scoring goals is hugely important, we need more from him.  I agree about the better quality holding midfielder though, for protection.

Conors strengths  -  Shooting, scoring, assisting, being a goal threat, free kicks

Conors weaknesses - everything else

play him in the front 3

I'm not against this at all.

In the sense that playing wingers clearly is not working for us and having wingers means we're a little open to the counter attack, I could see this worth trying (if the front three were JK, Wes and Conor, it would give Wes more support and perhaps play him more effectively since he clearly is not a winger's CF).

Or in situations or a system that does not require him to defend.

Sorry exactly where would that be ??
He's a Midfielder by trade not fit to be an attacking wide forward or striker for me

You do know he’s scored more goals than any of our actual strikers this season

I mentioned on the Wesley thread that he could possibly operate as a false 9, as long as he knows what one is because I'm not sure I do.

Is it where you don't play a recognised striker, à la Messi?

Didn't Barca use Fabregas like that at one time?

Our striker doesn't score anyway, so it would be no harm
