Gabby can't even take a throw-in! Technically his feet were over the touch line in the build up to the goal. Why ignore Grealish?

I thought we played fairly well. Considering the shite we were served up in the last offering this was a much improved performance.

Bacuna and Amavi linked up very well together, Baker and Chester looked as solid as ever and Kodjia came ready to work hard. We looked like we were capable of putting a few away today which is encouraging.

Anyone want to guess the last time we could enjoy Christmas having won the previous game?

2010 v the Baggies.

Well looked up! :P

So long ago sodding Heskey scored!

:)

Yo be honest I started from the 2000 season and worked forward, and was amazed it was as recent as that!

One worry is losing Kod soon. Concerns me that no other strikers look much like scoring.

Fair play to Bunn, that was as solid as I've seen him in a Villa shirt.  A crucial win that could be the springboard for a great 2017.

I don't remember him making a save, but at least he was assertive cutting out crosses.

I thought Chester and Baker have become a quality partnership, and on top of that I was impressed with Hutton. Amavi had a typical game, enough speed to take risks and comfortably recover.. hope our back four can keep it up.

It looks like a no brainer that Bacuna has to be involved now. He has plenty of energy, is comfortable defending and has a bit of skill going forward. I think he would do okay in the middle of the park. From the off I thought he would do really well in a Bruce side, I'm surprised it's taken this long for him to be involved.

I was really disappointed with Ross. I don't see anything even remotely showing his ability in years past. No trickery, no short bursts or runs into space, he's not turning defenders.. Idk I'm just not convinced he feels like he has a big enough role here so he's not bothered.

On the other hand Kodjia and Adomah couldn't be more effective. Barring the missed pen, those two are loose cannons. They'll run by you, through you and around you. Love having them in the squad.

Still can't believe Gabby, Gary and Westwood have roles here. No offense to them but on a professional level I don't see what they bring. Hopefully January brings in some proper talent.

On the whole, I was very pleased with the first 35 minutes of the second hand.. and that was enough to take all three points.

Oh, and piss of Holloway.

I'm not expecting us to play much better than that but the difference is we are getting some results now

I worked backwards when looking it up. Seeing the 8-0 still hurts.

Aye.  As much as we were trying to out-shite QPR at times by giving the ball away under little pressure, we didn't have the Elphick handicap to contend with.

Bringing on Gestede as a loan centre forward is never a good idea.....

Unfortunately Tonto, he's not on loan. He's ours.

You'd assume so for the squad at least, probably as a starter.

Kodjia  - work rate was 12/10. Amavi, Jedinak, Baker, Chester ... very good

Can't believe how important baker has become to the team. Fair play to the lad always give it his all.

By my reckoning, since Bruce came in:

Baker starts - WWDWDWW
Elphick starts - DLWL

Is he now 100% correlated with Bruce's wins?

He didn't play against Wigan.

You're right, updated while you were posting. A pattern though for sure.
