Now it's got us all keyed up, nothing less than Benteke weeping tears of joy on the Holte End will suffice.

If I was to have a really wild guess, that would be it.
On loan until the end of the season with option to buy if we go up?

Incidently,  his Wikipedia page has him coming to us!!
The only reason Palace would sell is the need the money to re-invest to fight for survival.  Loaning him to us would be the worst of both worlds for them.

Yes, very true, didn't think of that  :-[

Neil Taylor + £5m for Ayew apparently.

If that's the case, we've been shafted there.

If true thats a poor bit of business. On the other hand despite all my wishes the facts are Ayew has been a bit of a flop so there is that.

Loads of people on here seem to think Ayew is poor, we've got about 70-80% of what we paid for him despite relegation. I'm not sure how that's a disaster.

People seem to be under the impression that Ayew is a £15 million player at least. Personally I don't even think he's worth what we paid for him.

Why don't they have transfer deadline day today? Seems to make a lot more sense than having it tomorrow when loads of teams are playing.

Still, could advantage us if we unsettle Hogan before our game, I suppose.

I'd like Shane Long, or Shayne Lung as he was known at the Stripey Filth.

If the mystery striker doesn't happen, does it make any sense to weaken the forward line by selling Ayew?

I'm not sure that Bruce actually said it was a striker. This mystery player. Probably a centre half!

Maybe we're not going to confirm that deal until new striker is also confirmed...

removes pipe, reclines back into chesterfield, looks at brian and nods. With menace. Sips from whiskey whilst laughing under breath.

I see the BM are taking a punt at the 'Mystery Man' being Scott Hogan now...
