I 100% expect his to be Taylor plus cash for Ayew. Even the Dr's tweet suggested as much. Ultimately if they can give us £4-5m plus Taylor, we then use that cash to secure Rhodes, we have a much stronger squad with minimal outlay.
Ayew what's out so no point holding onto him so he can offer very little for he rest of season. Bruce wants to develop a team ethic and unfortunately we can't carry passengers like Ayew on the journey we are on.

You could argue that Taylor could play LB and Amavi could be pushed further forward.

We need cover for every position, get money plus Taylor for sulky and its a decent shout. Amavi is a decent player but Taylor is way better at defending.

Taylor is a fine full-back. He may have lost his way a bit, but so have Swansea. He's a better player than Amavi right now, for me.

An added bonus is that he has played in a very strong defence  alongside James Chester, for the Wales team.....Godzvilla!

We are going to have a really big squad at the moment and an excellent bench for the remaining season . I think our squad is actually better than Newcastle's .

Taylor's positional play is appalling. He gets caught out far too much, and without Ashley Williams next to him this season it's been highlighted even more. And he's just been replaced by Norwich's left back.

If you watch his performances for Wales and for Swansea, there is a huge difference in standard.

He's not better defensively than Amavi and worse going forward.

I hope I'm wrong, but he will be a massively underwhelming signing for me. Would much rather all cash and we can pick our own left back.

The way this window is heading the only position I'll be slightly concerned about is centre half - Baker seems to have started picking up knocks every week again which only really leaves us Chester as a constant then Elphick who has been consistently poor, Richards who is also rarely fit & has always looked a dreadful centre half before we get to Toner & Suliman.  Saw Bury want the young lad back on loan if he does sign too.

In the ideal world Richards departs and we get in another left sided centre half so we have Chester/Elphick for right side & Baker/ANOther for left side

I doubt it, given the signings we've just made.  Amavi won't be here next season-Of that I'm convinced and he will go with my blessing.  However, we need cover.  It seems likely that a new LB was always going to be joining, given we have no cover for Amavi, save for Baker or Bacuna-Neither of whom should be playing there.

I'd like to have a look at Taylor between now and May, given that it is unlikely that we'll make the play offs.  If he does a job then great and if he doesn't impress, he'll be back up, behind a replacement in the summer.

Since the Newcastle fringe players lost 3-0 to Oxford yesterday, and includes the likes of Good, Hanley, Lazaar, Barlaser and numerous others I've never heard of, I don't think it's an unfair point, on paper at least.

Championship sides Aston Villa and Derby County are both in the hunt to sign Exeter City striker Ollie Watkins before the January transfer window closes

don't know anything about him maybe Bruce is just trying to make Middlesvilla panic about Rhodes

No no no. There's never been a good 'Ollie' so i hope this doesn't come off.

Mellberg? Or is that a stretch?

Do tell ?

Been told that he has made no secret to Villa that if a premiership move was possible then he'd like to talk to the club in question. His agent had actively been speaking to possible suitors for months. Even down to Ayew having a pre Africa. Cup medical so that it would enable him to complete a move this month if one could arise

True, probably will never be another as the great former Sheffield Wednesday forward and part of the greatest comedic double act ever, Ollie Varadi.

Going to Swansea would be madness.  This time next season, he'll be in a worse position than he is now, other than if he has China or a similar cushion if and when Swansea go down.
