A straight swap for Neil Taylor would be pretty awful and under value Ayew by a good 5m. I think we got our pants pulled down on the Rhodes/ Gestede deals and can see it happening again here if not careful.  Taylor is worth about 4m, Ayew 9 or 10.

Is it a straight swap though?

Xia has posted "+75% -75% +X"

Realistically, if Schlup & Van Aanholt can go for £12 million or more, then Swansea will be asking for similar for Taylor.

My educated guess will be that we also see circa £4 million coming our way, which is more than enough to clinch the Rhodes deal.

We could then look at it as having swapped Gestede & Ayew for Rhodes and Taylor.

Another point is that player swaps rarely happen these days.  For some reason, clubs prefer to keep the deals separate, even if they are discussed as swaps.  I'm not sure why they do this?

I have to confess on being slightly worried by Taylor.  The reports aren't good.  Simply being a PL player does not automatically mean you will improve a Championship side, just look at our team from last season.  Furthermore, Taylor is not even 1st choice in a side that will likely be Championship next season.  In Bruce we trust I guess.

Taylor is a fine full-back. He may have lost his way a bit, but so have Swansea. He's a better player than Amavi right now, for me.

If that is correct then swapping a squad player for someone who would improve the starting 11 is good business.  If we could get some money as well, then great.

I suspect that Amavi will look to leave in the summer, which is ok with me-He didn't jump ship straight away like others and (IMO) is not as good as his hype.  One negative would be that if Taylor were to dislodge him, Amavi's sale fee would drop quite considerably.

Perhaps a deal is in the pipeline for Amavi in this window?  I know that Xia said otherwise but we all know how quickly things change.

I think Taylor coming in on loan to cover Amavi would be best all round. If Amavi does go in the summer, we have a ready made replacement there already.

I would sooner see a loan swap than a long term one. Van Arnholt and Schlup are younger and much more versatile than Taylor, plus Palace are overpaying badly for both realistically.  I wold much sooner get Taylor and Barrow in the deal as we lack pace and strength out wide and Barrow gives us a different option. Would not be shocked to see Liverpool offer big money for Amavi before close of play Tuesday.

Agree about Schlup. Van Arnholt is a really good player though and has got a goal in him. Maybe a couple of million overpriced though.

Great going forward but a complete liability defending.

To get them both (plus Rhodes) would certainly see an almost new team.  Some astute business to boot, given that the net outlay would be fairly low.

The only thing that is puzzling me about the entire window is Bjarnason.  I cannot for the life of me see where he is penciled in to play, other than on the left or as back up to HL & CH.  Either way, we seem to be heavily overloaded in midfield now and at least one of Bacuna, Gardner or Westbrook needs to leave, if not 2 of them.  Their chances of playing are going to be very restricted moving forward.

Van Arnholt is a terrible player but good on highlights, the in-laws reckon he's one of their worst players.

I know, it's brilliant isn't it? There's quite a few who's departure would excite me as much as a new signing, just because it means I'll never have to endure their 'performances' again.

I wonder if Swansea are also giving us money, which we will use to go back in for Rhodes.  Hence the strange tweets from Dr X.

got a mate who supports Exeter, and his always banging on how good this kid is, because of my mate I have seen a number of his goals, the kid is a talent for sure, the step up from Exeter to Villa though.
