I would imagine that the percentage of transfers in January that are concluded in the last 48 hours of the window must be high in comparison with the Summer transfer season. I suspect there is a great amount of brinkmanship around negotiations with all parties trying to get the best deal. Also a few transfers are subject to the domino effect i.e. A player cannot move until his replacement has been bought. I have sympathy for anyone involved in the process and I am confident that we will have signings in but I reckon patience is the keyword.

We often say that, but it doesn't ever really seem to apply to players we sell.

We weren't bothered about going into our last match without a striker having just sold Gestede.

A bit like with Gestede? If we are actually after Rhodes then would have been the time to do the deal!

If we don't get players in before the end of this month then personally I wouldn't bother and wait till summer as it will be too late to make the play-offs (exactly like last January)!

That is why I said 'a few transfers are subject to....' but your point is valid if Rhodes is being considered, would have made sense to have player plus reduced cash deal surely? Perhaps agents get reduced percentage if it is a player swap deal so don't encourage their clients to accept?

If we don't get players in before the end of the month, we have no choice but to wait till summer surely.

Jordan Rhodes is shite.

I think his career record of better than a goal every other game contradicts this. He scored loads at Huddersfield, 36 in 40 league games in his last season, then 73 goals in three full seasons at Blackburn. Give him the ammunition and he'll certainly do a job, and at 26 should be hitting his peak. It's true though, without creating chances it's irrelevant who's up front.

Agree, I get really bored with people constantly saying players were linked with are shite where there is evidence to the contrary

Rhodes will require the kind of service Darren Bent needed, otherwise he can become anonymous and look one dimensional. Possibly with the midfielders we have been linked with coming in, then Rhodes, next to the mercurial Kodjia, could be something that might just push us into 6th by the end of the season.

I would be happy enough with just a couple of central midfielder types in this window I think the rest we can work with if we have to

Sort the midfield out and all our forwards are capable of scoring at this level..... Even Agbonlahor.

Rhodes?  No!
Sort the MF, play the game a little higher up the pitch and our strikers will score (maybe even Flabby), because Adomah and Grealish will become more effective.
If I repeat this enough will it mean that it won't happen?!
More money than sense?

I'm getting ptt. (Pre transfer tension).

I've now convinced myself TONY is a penniless charlatan and he going to wait until Summer before getting an overdraft.

Come on TONY put me at ease please.

Relax Frank.  However much Tony was worth when he bought us he is now worth 17% more in GBP thanks to Brexit.
