I'm not overly concerned, regarding our position in the league, at the moment.
If we're honest the play offs is what we'll be aiming at.
To my knowledge there is always a team that hits form and makes a surge towards the end of the season and nip into the play offs.
10 points isn't a great gap in the grand scheme of things.
Whether we're that team is to be seen.
Let's see what January brings

Out of interest, does anyone know
1) points total to finish 6th over last 3 years
2) What's the biggest gap that's been clawed back by a side that's snuck into the play offs
(I'm too lazy to look it up myself)

Not sure if anyone answered 1) re 6th place

2012 75 pts.
2013 68
2014 72
2015 78
2016 74

Bringing in a midfielder from Wolfsburg

http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/01/16/report-aston-villa-set-to-sign-anton-donkor-from-vfl-wolfsburg/
Quote
Reports in Germany are suggesting that Aston Villa are set to sign Anton Donkor from VfL Wolfsburg. It is being reported by Bild that Villa are set to sign the player after he was told first-team football was unlikely to be offered to him at the Volkswagen Arena.

It’s reported he is set to train with Aston Villa before concluding a permanent transfer.

Quote
The 19-year-old winger, full name Anton-Leander Donkor-Oppong, can play on either the right or left, but prefers the latter. He can even play through the middle.

Good luck getting his name into a chant (even though I am positively sure that there's only one of him). Although good news for shirt letter sales.

Ying tong ying tong Donkor-Oppong?

...so, who's the reserve left back now

Can Toner play at Left-Back?

Didn't he play up front for Manchester United?

Do we still have Joe Bennett on the books? I lost track of what happened after Xia pulled the plug because he didn't want a player moving to a supposed play-off rival.

Signed for Cardiff I think. Permanent move.

Another youngster linked  unfortunatley it's from 'The Star '.........Godzvilla!

Aston Villa confident of beating Premier League giants to defender deal

ASTON VILLA are reportedly hopeful of beating several Premier League giants to the signing of Bury starlet Jacob Bedeau.
Bedeau was handed his professional debut by Shakers boss Chris Brass in November at the age of just 16 and has since made seven appearances in League One.
The 17-year-old centre-back has been on the radar of several top English clubs and scouts have regularly watched him in action this season.
The Daily Mail claim Liverpool and both Manchester giants are interested in the young defender.
But they risk missing out in his signature with Villa optimistic they can get a deal done first

These young player links are the ones that perk my interest. I want a long term looking transfer plan, not just tired unimaginative signings that we did a lot of last summer already

Another  example of Lambert's utter fuckwittery

He was forced to buy from the dregs of the bargain basement that summer - Senderos, Richardson, Cissokho, recalling Hutton

We thoroughly gave up as a top division club that summer

The heady heights of the top three in the early stages, hence the wonderful new four year contract that he fought so hard not to sign. Twunt.

Clickbait Meaning evil claiming that Rhodes to Villa is odds on. I didn't realise that his Uncle is part of the furniture at Sheffield Wednesday.  I can't see too many clubs being able to fork out the money Boro are asking.

Genius that move.  Waso it after his goal at Liverpool when we had 10 points from our opening 4.  Really scary that we got 12 from our next 22. Good God we have been really shit for a long time now.

Why are we so short odds to sign Jordan Rhodes? What's the point?
