Amavi swap for Benteke? Seems that he is now surplus at Palace.

I wonder if now that Niasse chap who plays for Everton is on the verge of going to Hull on loan, it might pave the way for Hernandez to leave? Just a thought.

If Benteke is genuinely surplus at Palace, rather than it just being paper talk, & he wants to stay in England rather than go to China then I would flog Amavi for the mythical £25m and buy a jobbing left back for £3m and have a go at tempting him back. Offer him half his wages with the other half paid if he gets us up and offer him the option of a sell on if we don't get up. Can't see it happening or him biting but maybe worth a shot as it would also solve the problem on the left as Kodjia can play there effectively.

Surely Benteke is ideal for Allerdyce?  Better than the target men that he's been used to in the past, I would imagine?

Benteke probably took the move to Palace with the view that it would be one step back to go two steps forward.

Be a first team regular in a reasonable Prem side who would give him decent service for a season and a bit. With the added bonus of living in London. Then get a move back to a bigger club who would utilise what he can do, rather than piss and moan about what he can't do as per the Redscouse.

Taking a move back to Villa now, be that loan or whatever, would be one step back to go four steps back.

And Palace are only thinking of selling Benteke to raise funds for transfers, so probably wouldn't be interested in a swap deal.

Benteke will have other Premier League teams after him anyway.

Benteke has scored something like 8 goals in 18 games for them and missed a few penalties so I would suggest they would be bonkers to let him go given their current league position.

Sadly he won't be coming back to VP but no doubt there will be plenty adding him to their wish lists of ex-players they think are coming back to us (but we have not a cat in hells chance of signing) alongside Delph, Milner, Young and Barry!

The Bham Mail is talking seriously about Ayew going to China. Yes, please, if the money is good for us.

Amavi - I can't believe we have finally found a solution to one of our longest term problem positions and with 20 days of the transfer widow remaining people are wanting to sell him off in possibly our most important season for 20 years (given current PL money deal).  It's just plain nuts.  We don't seem to be short  short of cash, so why not spend it improving the team rather than selling off our better players?

I can see Benteke ending up at the Bitters, and that would be hard to swallow.

I'm still waiting for Gerry Hitchens and Tony Hateley to return but unfortunately......

Maybe he has a release clause in his contract to only play one season in the Championship and we're hedging our bets.

Is Amavi really the solution to our long term left back woes? If so, on what basis? I don't see it at all I must say. Has promise for sure but I don't think he is improving defensively and have hardly seen him as an attacking threat this season. If he was that good he would be burning up this division.

Someone like Tyrone Mings at Bouremouth went for stupid money from Ipswich there but is struggling for game time. He would be a solid signing for us if Amavi were to leave.

Re Benteke, he has been hopeless since leaving us. Confidence no doubt has taken a battering but his mobility seems non existent these days.

Dr Tony has just tweeted that we're looking at 7 or 8 and hope for 3 or 4 targets. It could be exciting.

'Working hard every day now. About 7-8 targets ongoing but if we could get 3done, then it's not bad result. If 4, would be great.'
