Gestede to Boro a done deal according to the Daily Heil.

Blimey, no idea what he's done to get that 'promotion'.  With the wages gone, hopefully we can get a proper midfielder.
Personally I think one less attacker might help us this season as I think we've struggled to keep them all engaged and consequently not got the best out of any of them.

Bruce must have someone lined up because what with the African Cup going on we're going to be a few strikers short. Perhaps Rhodes is on his way here?

I've no problems with Gestede either way.  He was never going to start for us but proved the other night what a great asset he is to come off the bench.

My big worry (and Thursday night showed, as will tomorrow) is that we have no physical presence up top.  Rudy was ideal for tomorrow, to play against that big lump of theirs who got sent off at Ipswich.

Good luck to him, he never gave anything but his best for us and there's a few others I'd have liked to have seen leave before him.

The thing is, it's our strength in depth that has got us out of plenty of holes this season (late impact subs and that). I hope we don't lose that asset by the end of January. Can't see it though, Bruce must have a few signings lined up...

I know it is very much an intangible, unprovable theory, but I also think our depth has also worked against us.  Possibly too many content players in the squad on big salaries rather than scrapping for their careers.

I can't argue with that. Despite what many would consider his limited ability, I just wonder how many goals he would have scored if he had started every game he was available for. A great attitude.

As nice a bloke as he was, he couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo.  We (almost) got our money back for him somehow.  Good business.

Gestede seems to manage to combine being seen as "really good in the air" with almost never actually winning any aerial duels.

Nice bloke, but really not very good.

agreed and if it stops us whacking long balls into front men as an approach to attacking then I'm all for it. I'd like to thank him for some thumping headers most notably vs Blues and Liverpool, and contributing to winning us a point the other night. But I'd much rather we went with skill and speed up front and not players like Gestede. Nice bloke and all, and good luck to him at Boro. But in all likelihood he will go and sit on the bench with Adama and wax lyrical about how much fun it was last time both of them played together in the same side in the PL.

Good luck to him. He seems like a genuinely nice bloke and I'd have loved for it to have worked out for him here, but he's just too one dimensional, and we don't have the players to get the best out of his aerial ability.  Like TV, I'd like to see another Kodjia type of player coming in, who is quick, skilful and knows where the back of the net is.

Great off a running start, shit with a standing one. Plus, it seemed like he was never really interested in any aerial contests outside of crosses into the box.

I would like to argue with that but not just now as I need to sleep.

I wouldn't be gutted if we got a proper offer in for Ayew either. I don't know what he really offers or is best at. I'm not sure he knows either. If desperate Swansea offered us 15m for example I'd snap their hands off.

With a combination of Rudy and Adama Boro would have the biggest speed differential across the front ever seen in any team ever.  Unless of course Usain Bolt joins Man Ure.
