Brady would help on the creativity side and has suitable quality to not have to think about replacing him once we get back into the Premier. Positionally he may not be a priority but if we're looking to bolster the depth of quality in the squad, I'm not going to complain.

Wouldn't be my priority (Brady). I'd definitely go for a centre back. Keeper and centre midfielder

I think a left winger is becoming a priority Matt.  Overheard two blokes talking about it on the way back to the car after the game in Saturday and that the balance of the side still isn't quite right when Kodjia, Ayew or Grealish play out there.  Was a little surprised to hear one of them say that he would play Cissokho there though!!

Saying that, a partner for Jedinak is still the priority for me.

Whelan at Stoke, Meyler at Hull, both bench warming. Wouldn't mind either.

A tigersh midfielder is want we need. Saw jay spearing captain and deliver another telling performance in midfield for Bolton.  I think with Bolton off field issue there can be score for a cheeky 1 or 2 million bid. Would suit both parties as add to midfield.

2 from McCarthy,  Spearing Myler or whelan would be nice.
Add Brady and Jenkinson and another striker and defender and Gk think Bruce would be well set.

Jay Spearing - a player who has not had a sniff from anyone since being in League One and the depths of the Championship? Why on earth do you think he is capable of any higher than his current level? He's just a Jamie O'Hara.

McCarthy would be an excellent shout as he's really fallen down the pecking order at Everton but I suspect would be unlikely to come to us in our current position/plight.

The thought of paying any form of spendable currency on Jay Spearing makes me want to vomit. To think that 2 million quid could somehow be considered a Bid when talking about a player who so closely resembles a Jersey Royal in both appearance and ability saddens me.

He was injured for a while last season. Being in better squad and players around him would make his game come on. I think hes already championship level and has passion energy and eye  for a shot has seen him score spectacular goals. He tackles well and is a capatin also takes very decent corners and set plays. Decent enough at this level. I grant you hes not a consistent  for top top levels but where we are now he certainly as good for most championship midfield. McCarthy would be great addition as hes stepped down a league but dont forget Spearing has performed  at highest level in champions league and Europa league as well as being in prem league. 28 now and this would be a chance for him to make the big time again.
Jamie o hara is left footed .

If they're willing to stump up a big fee then I think we would have to sell.  Seen a fair bit of him now and although he is still young, he is error prone.  I thought the young Leeds left back looked a better bet when we played them.

Bruce got it right when he said we've spent too long looking to increase the size of the squad rather than looking to bring in players better than what we already have. Spearing would just increase the squad size.

It's difficult because I think a lot of signings in the last 12-18 months have been intended as better than we have but they've been signed without really knowing how we want to use them.  Most of Sherwoods signings suffered from that and this summer McCormack felt like we'd signed him because he had a decent record rather than because he was what we needed.  Even Adomah, who i really rate, is an odd signing because I couldn't work out exactly where to put him into the team.  Even now I'm not sure that how we're being setup fits.  If the Brady rumours are true then it suggests that the shape will be moving towards a 442 or 451 and if so I struggle to see a place for all of Ayew, Kodjia, McCormack and Grealish who are all better in more 'between the lines' roles.

Did McCarthy play for Bruce at Wigan?
