Odd decision.  He played well in his recent games, and his treatment would appear to be at odds with Bruce's recent statements about the club being a meritocracy.  If anything happens to Chester or Terry, we're going to have to rely on the 105 year old Samba or an untried kid from Man U.

Shooting ourselves in foot by him going. eighteen games still to play and potentially a lot of injuries to our back four. Crazy.

The only logical explanation is that Bruce is sleeping with Mourinho and/or Samba.

We’re replacing him with the kid from Man Utd. I think we’re taking a chance here and I hope it doesn’t back-fire.

It's not what I would have done either. Elphick looks like a decent bloke to have around the dressing room and he's been through a promotion push before.

Seems an odd and unnecessary decision, we're only a bad injury and a couple of suspensions away from very light at the back.

TOMMY ON THE WAY?

“It looks as if he’s going to Reading. That’s edging closer.

“We’re hoping it will get done by lunch-time, which allows him to play tomorrow +

“I thought it was right for Tommy, it hasn’t gone so well here.

“Because of the way he is as a pro, and a lad, and a player, I can’t give him what he wants which is first team football.

“With the emergence of Easah Suliman and Tuanzebe walking through the door, then it gives me the ideal opportunity to let him go and play.”

There are some players that no matter what they do they don't fancy.  Tommy is one of those.

Or both, separately or simultaneously.

He has had a few good games. Rewind to pre-4th November and the idea of Elphick being anywhere near the side would have made you all cry.

This is probably the oddest bit of the whole thing.  "the emergence of Easah Suliman" - Can you really say that about a young central defender whose only inclusion in the squad was against Wigan in the cup in August and who has seen 3 full backs and a central midfielder get games ahead of him in his position?  Where exactly has he emerged?

And then he came in, when we didn't have anybody else, which is the point.

Yeah that's an odd one.  My first thought when we were linked was Suliman must be gutted, but it does seem Axel may be a safer pair of hands to rely on, at least at this stage of their careers.
