I'll have to figure out a good month to come home. Watch a couple of games, maybe a cup game thrown in for good measure.
Looking forward to that.

What better way to treat your better half for Valentines day than Barnsley at home under the lights?

Surprised the Blues home game is as late as 22nd April. If we're both fighting for a place in the play offs, can't imagine what the atmosphere will be like. There again looking on the bright side, what a fixture to clinch automatic promotion.

That's a big 'if'.

Nah, it will be a case of our traditional rendition of 'We'll Meet Again' to the Rags on the 22nd.

Rotherham is first home game.  Haha.  Well done Randy - from Rotterdam to Rotherham!  I suppose it had to be...

Happy memories of Sheffield Wednesday first away game under Big Ron - we should take a few up there this time too....

I said to my mate someone has a sense of humour

Yep, thinking either the opening game at VP followed by Huddersfield Olly, or the back to back Forest/Brentford games. Although if we get a home cup game that could create two quick home games over a few days also.

I think it's exciting, going through the Premier League fixtures and thinking 'loss, loss, hammered, surrender v Man Utd, loss' was deflating and depressing. Obviously there will be some 'boring' home games and unappealing ones like Huddersfield on a Tuesday night but at least they're winnable. There are also some decent home games like Blues, Newcastle, Sheff Wednesday, Leeds, Forest. The away games will be fantastic, starting with Sheffield Wednesday. Fulham and Blackburn last two away games aswell, we'll take over both grounds if we're going for promotion.

I agree with this.  On the whole I am looking forward to a fresh challenge, and one we have a chance of over coming.

This on Sky website has confused me. When did Leeds win ten European Cup?

NEW YEAR'S EVE - CHAMPIONSHIP

Quote
The festive period is always a crucial time of the season, with games coming thick and fast and the chance for a fresh start in the new year.

There are some tasty looking New Year's Eve fixtures in the Championship too, with the pick of them probably Aston Villa v Leeds.

It will be the second match between the two former European Cup winners in December, having not previously met since 2004...

Sheffield Wednesday won't fancy us as their first game. It won't be the same Randy Lerner/Eric Black white flag waving, 3 points mailed in Aston Villa that we will see on August 7th.

In a funny way I'd actually prefer if we don't win the first game....only because we seemed to have the knack of doing that last few seasons (Bournemouth, Arsenal and Stoke) and it just leads to dismal seasons.

Whereas last good season we had 09/10 we started off with an awful 2-0 loss at home to Wigan.

Think it's more important we win the two back to back home games. We really need to get things going at VP and actually make it a difficult place for away teams to come to again. No excuse not to win 10-15 home games this season imo which would be a very enjoyable change from the norm.

Must have been a Leeds fan that wrote it.

They're a weird bunch, Leeds. The only club I know of that celebrates imagined trophy wins.

We played them a similar time in 2008, the 5-1 game. They went down two weeks later. Pretty sure the game in 2010 (Milner penalty) was even later as both happened around my Birthday (as does this one).

Always seems to be we have to go there first in October/November and then play the return at VP near the end of the season. Think there's only been one season in recent times when we've played them at home first.

We're no longer in the PL Soccer. Our expectations of this season need to be much, much higher. I want us to go out and have the attitude to win every single game and not consider for a second what happened last season or the past five seasons to what could happen going forward. I want us to stop being subservient and have a season that fills all of us with huge confidence again. We have become so used to losing. That has to stop.

As someone said before, it's a marathon not a sprint.

In 87/88 we only got 1 point from the first 3 games. People shouldn't get outraged if that happens again.
