I think it's exciting, going through the Premier League fixtures and thinking 'loss, loss, hammered, surrender v Man Utd, loss' was deflating and depressing. Obviously there will be some 'boring' home games and unappealing ones like Huddersfield on a Tuesday night but at least they're winnable. There are also some decent home games like Blues, Newcastle, Sheff Wednesday, Leeds, Forest. The away games will be fantastic, starting with Sheffield Wednesday. Fulham and Blackburn last two away games aswell, we'll take over both grounds if we're going for promotion.

Away at Small Heath on a Tuesday night. That should be tasty.

The police will be loving that. Town will be a no go area from around 3pm.

I looked at Wednesday's results against the other top 5 in the league and they're draw merchants it seems. Lost 1 and drew the other 4 at home and lost 2 and drew the other 3 away.

Bear in mind that Southampton are looking at their manager so could be a few changes at Wednesday.

I'll have to figure out a good month to come home. Watch a couple of games, maybe a cup game thrown in for good measure. I'm quite looking forward to this. It's a long, long season and lots will change over the course of it. It's very much a marathon, not a sprint so we will need ensure we position ourselves so that finishing strong gets us automatic promotion.

Burton at home boxing day

Try guessing the gate for that one. Probably the biggest crowd Burton will have played in front of.

Brentford and Fulham are on weekdays. So much for an all day Saturday session, interrupted by a football match. Bit of a downer.

The games will be coming thick and fast. This place will be buzzing with activity. I only want one season of this, an enjoyable promotion year then back to the PL, but it will interesting discussing very different teams and games this season.

Probably just reality setting in for me.  We are in the Championship.  Need to bring in a few more solid signings.  Would have liked a home game to start, three points on the board to lift things.  I guess we will have to try to do it the hard way, at Sheffield Wednesday, and give us even more of a boost (hopefully).

Isn't Fulham a bank holiday Monday though?

Sheffield Wednesday won't fancy us as their first game. It won't be the same Randy Lerner/Eric Black white flag waving, 3 points mailed in Aston Villa that we will see on August 7th.

Surprised the Blues home game is as late as 22nd April. If we're both fighting for a place in the play offs, can't imagine what the atmosphere will be like. There again looking on the bright side, what a fixture to clinch automatic promotion.

That's a big 'if'.
