Because we didn't take the full allocation. Which is about 3K.

Is it still going?I was up there early eighties too, sadly the Cooperage has gone, I noticed the Crown Pasada is still going strong and The Strawberry but the likes of the Barley Mow and Egypt Cottage and many other great pubs and venues have gone.I loved it up there and have kept in touch with loads of mates up there, none of whom fit the description of what people on here seem to think all Newcastle supporters are.

Have to agree with John e, Newcastle (and Sunderland) fans are some of the most loyal in the game. They generally show good humour too, which is why I find this pretend rivalry with us they've invented since they sent themselves down with an OG at Villa Park all bit ridiculous, particularly the way they've let it fester in the years since. Any club's fans would have had a laugh at it like ours did that day.I too have been at St James' in sub-20k league crowds a few times, but their support in terms of numbers is as good as any of the top clubs when you consider the only thing they've won in most fans' lifetime is the second division. One thing's for sure, they wouldn't be able to buy up tickets in the home ends if our own fans were there. This is one last chance to voice your disapproval at the club and let the players know what a disgrace they've been - get down there and let it all out!
I must say I'd rather Newcastle didn't stay up at our place, couldn't care less if they did it the week after. I don't want them taking the pee at Villa park.

Sunderland got 2 games to play so don't think it's mathematically possible for Newcastle to survive even if they beat us and Palace. They could easily be relegated though especially if they don't win tomorrow and Sunderland do.
There is nothing else to do in Sunderland other than watch Sunderland or bide your time until old age and death.

My ex was from the north east, Hartlepool. We spent a lot of time visiting all the towns and cities up there, Sunderland... I like the people but the place was like a really big Acocks Green but colder and a bit shitter.

Newcastle and Sunderland fans are no different to any other club's supporters. I also don't buy the "hotbed" of football description of the North East. 2 clubs, 15 miles apart? we've got 2 clubs within 3 miles of us - and Wolves and Cov are both as far from us as Newcastle from Sunderland. I've got nothing against either of them, except when the media trot out the lazy "loyal supporters" bollocks. They are both one team cities and have a massive catchment area. Sunderland must be amongst the biggest underachievers in the English game. the 2 grounds are 12 miles away from each other
