Chopra has been released early from his contract and will play for Essex for the rest of this season
Why not eh? We've just scored 123 and 152.
Are we hard up enough to want to save his wages rather than pay him to score runs for us ?

Surely Evans Porterfield Javid are options for the last game and Ambrose should be fit too.

Things looking a lot better than yesterday. So long as Surrey don't collapse.

Tea at the Oval
215/3 they trail by 38 with a minimum of 33 overs left.
Think we can safely say that Hants will take 12 points from the game giving them 148.
With a home game against Durham on 20/9.
Durham though have a home game v Surrey on 12/9 so could conceivably be safe by time they play Hants

We just have to ensure we match Hants result when we play Lancs at home.

Surrey game delayed by rain now, scores almost level. Will surely be a draw now.

Think we've been quite lucky with the scores today thankfully.

Surrey 248-3
Sangakkarra 84
Davis 29
Raining with Surrey 5 behind.
22.2 overs left...any overs lost now are just that lost.
Commentators saying that it's set and won't come back out.

Incidentally Sri Lanka made 128/9 in their 20 overs in the 2nd T20 v Aussies.
Tillakaratne Dilshan's last ever International appearance and unfortunately for the cricket public and himself he was out
Ct Warner b Hastings 1
Not exactly a great end to his international career.

The big heavy covers being brought on at the Oval.

Is the text at the bottom of the Championship table correct? Why are two sides going down and only one coming up? That would leave one division with 8 teams and the other with 11

Hampshire game ended as a draw so they are 8 points behind us going into the last game of the season. Interestingly, they have a better record than us (both only 2 wins, but they have 1 less defeat), it's only bonus points which is our saving grace.

Last game it's:
Hampshire v Durham
Warwicks v Lancs

If they win, we will need a win too.

It's correct, 8 in Div 1 from next season, 10 in Div 2.

I didn't know that - thanks.
