We'll take the draw at Edgbaston and move on, still keeps us theoretically in the Title race, although I really don't think we've got the players to go the distance.

I think quite the opposite.

With the batsmen repeatedly failing we are still right up at the top. If Bell can get firing again and Hain find his feet (today's knock will certainly help), Barker carry on his magnificent bowling and Patel do what Patel does, I'd say we are i with a really good shout.

Well a 2nd batting point to help the cause:
252/4 86.4
Hain 84
Ambrose 36

Need to score at 7 an over to get to 350 so i suspect we will have to settle for just 1 more batting point.

The thing with the batsmen is it's only really Bell who is failing (as in playing below his expected standard). The others (Chopra, Umeed, Westwood, Hain) just aren't that good, although in Hain's case that is 'yet'.

Bowling wise Barker is a very good seamer and Patel a good spinner. Other than that who will take wickets if one of those two aren't firing?

IMO we'll be 3rd at best.

Hain brings his 100 up with a 6
298/4 96.5
Hain 101
Ambrose 58
May as well attempt to get 5th batting point 52 runs in 13 overs so rate down to 4 an over to achieve that as game now in effect over as a
spectacle.
300/4 97.3

Tea 311/4 99 overs
Meant 4th batting point to be achieved above
Hain 111
Ambrose 61

Chopra is a good/very good Championship opener, it's too early to judge Umeed and the less said on Westwood the better. Hain is having a very poor season up to now but from i've read/heard he seems to be held in very high regard and will be a top player.

I'd also say you are being a tough harsh on Clarke on Rankin (if the latter stays fit). Both very competent seamers in this format and both with the ability to take wickets regularly.

I suppose we will have to wait and see but in my opinion this is the strongest XI we have had in a long time and I certainly won't be betting against us.

Middx are 170/4 16 overs left to get 132 runs to win and go top. A draw will still see them top and increase their lead to 3 points.
A win would give them 23 points and lead of 14 points.
We are on 127 points with Lancs on 117 but with game in hand.

Middx lose a wkt 271/6 41.4

31 req'd off 26 balls

If they do this. and looking increasingly likely, game at Edgbaston on 30th August gonna be a must win game for bears
Hold on 271/7 42 Rayner b Leach 0
31 off 24
