Again, I don't understand all the Gabby bashing. Yes, he's not doing it at the mo, but why all the personal abuse, he is a local Villa fan who scored a winner at the Sty. Am I missing something...?

Because he's a trouble maker, who has contributed almost nothing for years. He can't live on a few goals against those piss pots all his life, he's on a massive wedge.

I said Garde would be a genius if he managed to get rid of Gabby and Nzog...not long to go.

I think this board has already waived the white flag hence the introduction of Hollis who looks as if he's been bought in to carry on his accountcy role albeit with the title of Chairman.

Leicester had 19 points with ten games to go last year. We had 22 points last year with 11 games remaining. The board are crazy to have surrendered so early. Garde has got 7 results since had came in. At least one of those draws would have been a win if we had a finisher. The margins are so tight, two wins and we would have some momentum and more belief.

I am so disappointed, but not surprised, by what's going on.  I thought our premier league status was precious to us. We are not down yet.

I couldn't tell you specifics you'd be better off asking Houllier and Garde who have criticised him.

I don't think there is much will there anyway right now to sign anyone to make a difference. They've got the fear of life in them of spending money after all the tits up purchases we've made and with Hollis newly in and wanting to make an impression I don't think any mistakes would be taken lightly. All the talk is of not spending money, money isn't the answer, surely it all points to we aren't going to be spending and will be using the next 6 months to take full stock of where we are and scouting.

Yep, you're taking being a Villa fan (although one who never actually went to games, according to himself) and scoring a winner at the Sty as being sufficient mitigating factors for him contributing the square root of fuck all for several seasons now, whilst looking fat and unbothered.

Not having a go at you, but I always find that "but he's a villa fan! he's a legend!" stuff so small time.

So fucking what if he's a Villa fan? Is that enough? Of course it isn't.

The fact that it has actually been seen as enough for the last five years says everything you need to know about our half-witted acceptance of mediocrity.

There are few things which would make me respect Garde more than him punting Agbonlahor out this summer.

Cher Monsieur Garde,

Rather than an actual trouble maker I think he may be thought of as a bad example.  As a complete product of the club my guess is that his motivation/work ethic/dedication (or lack of) is seen as the benchmark for most youngsters and players who join whereas Garde may prefer that this connection with the past is removed.

I don't think he has criticised him explicitly, has he?

It's not difficult to read between the lines though. This, written by Mat Kendrick in the Mail on the 11 of January, is pretty damning really:

Quote
"At the minute he’s still in treatment," he said. "The doctor told me it was better but he’s still struggling."

In response to further questioning about whether Agbonlahor would be considered for selection once fit, Garde spoke about the standards he demands from his players.

"Like every player under contract in this football club, like Charles N'Zogbia too, they have to be prepared to play," said Garde.

"But I need to see that they are fully committed to the team, that they want to help the team and have the behaviour.

"Not only to say it, but to have the behaviour every minute, every time to show that they can help or want to help the team.

"Of course if this player have this behaviour they could be selected, yes."

On the subject of talks with Agbonlahor, Garde added: "I’ve got chance to do it yes, of course. I will see. "

Last nights Evening Standard said that Villa were in the box seat to sign Debuchy.  They cited Garde's relationship with Wenger as the main reason, however also indicated that Arsenal want a recall option.  Apparently the clubs are negotiating the loan fee.

I think the deal's agreed but Arsenal are holding back until the end of the window to make sure they don't get any injuries which would lead to them needing him to play. Another reason why there's so little activity in the window until the end of it.
