I think we're going to get absolutely battered at Chelski...I wouldn't at all be surprised if it was as bad as the 8-0 under Lambert.

this unfortunately

I know it sounds incredibly doomish, but I too am thinking the same thing.

We've not really had (m)any drubbings despite losing a lot, but Chelsea are going to click sometime soon, and this looks like the sort of fixture in which they'll do it.

Not 8, but I could see 4 or 5.

Hate saying this but I've enjoyed this weekend without any football to stress about. We're a really shitty outfit these days.

I don't remember a 7 ? Who put 7 past us ?

Chelsea 7 Villa 1- April 2010.
Oh yes , I'd forgotten about this one.
I was at the 0-8 game but left at 0-7 and before I'd got to a pub on the Kings Rd they'd scored another and missed a penalty. Horrendous day.

Chelsea will beat us because we'll set up not to lose and concede early. It will be uphill from there because the side already lacks confidence. Chelsea have enough quality and experience that it won't take them much to get going if the opponent lets them play. In games they've lost this season the opponent has had a go at them from the start. When was the last time we did that, and most importantly even when we did we stuck to the plan, made intelligent adjustments and saw it through?

When Sherwood came in I thought it was refreshing how good our tempo and attack was from the start of games, think back to the West Brom game early on in his reign, we should've been 4 up at home with Gabby having two shots off the line. QPR was another game when we battered them for most of the first half, Everton another.

This season it's just like watching a lambert team, negative and tentative at home from the first whistle, desperate to not concede, we do anyway and then look clueless how to get back in the game.

That's probably why I want him gone now, our play has regressed to as bad as in the last few seasons and that's not a formula that wins many games.

Although I think we're absolute shite at the moment and that Sherwood is surviving on bravado and support from his media chums ( both of which will surely run dry soon), I fancy us to get a shock at Chelsea. In the same way that Lambert always managed to pull off a mad result against a top side to just do enough to keep himself in a job.

2-1, Villa. God knows who'll score for us - probably 2 own goals - but I'm confident. Business as usual the week after though, I reckon

It will be our luck that we win the next two, his job becomes secure and we lose the next ten.

Win next 2, give Sherwood another 4 year deal on top of the 3 in-play securing him to 2022
What's not to likes
