Anyone there when we beat them 5-0 in the cup in 87?

I think we beat them twice that season, also 6-2 in the zenith data systems cup (?!) or simod cup, or whatever the fuck it was called then.

I was about 14/15 at the time- got the Lloyds bus from nuneaton and walking down trinity lane to the Holte was spine tingling. One bloke walking towards me had veins popping out of his head and neck he was that charged up- went to take a swing and obviously thought better about smacking a school kid at the last second. I skipped out the way anyway into the road and carried on. That was a mad night - they were lighting fires all over the witton end terracing and it was going off all over the place by the leisure centre where the coach was parked afterwards.

It Was 1988.
We beat them 5-0 and 2-0 in what was the Rumbelows cup then 6-0 in the Simod. I went to all three games.
It was my first live encounters with the unwashed and forged my mindset for the rest of my life. Just pure Blues of a club!!

I remember in the cup game they had a rookie keeper which my friend put down to the 5-0 rout. A week or so later their "Proper" keeper was in and we put 6 past him - IIRC only around 7/8K turned up to see it - unthinkable really for a derby

such fun - but would still prefer never to play them

In case anyone is in any doubt that this will consume their entire existence until the match, please look at the attached if you dare - I particularly like the delusion about their entitlement to a massive away allocation beyond the 10% with their huge attendances over recent years.

Maybe we should put O Neill in charge for one game. We'd be guaranteed to win. Pube Head's record against them (for us) was impeccable.

Still, I'm sure Sherwood, short of a brain fart team sheet, will see them off.

Are they all mentally ill - seriously?

Ignorant
Racist
Suggesting smashing up the ground
Considering us 6 fingered
They will need more tickets?

"Assuming the vile can sell 36K"

Considering our attendance last night was almost the combined total sum of them and the Bitters at home - please do fuck off you delusional inbreds

Suggesting drinking in Perry Barr like last time - I would like to have seen that attempted back in the day -  eh Mr Woodhall - as I said dillusional

Tony Elliott, he was a few years above me at school. We went down to Wembley to see him play for England Schoolboys.

I went to all of these games, I thought it was packed but looking at the attendance there was hardly anyone there.

Only been there the once. My old man had a team playing in a final of the Birmingham cup. Shithole, I remember it being a bit like highfield road i.e shit. We were in that little shitty side stand.

I hate this game too. Painful mental and physical scars from 03.03.03.

The vilest supporters I've ever come across. It'll be a tricky one, but we've got a great chance to once again show them who's boss!

As much as they go on about what they've won recently in comparison to our 7 League Championships, 7 FA Cups, 5 League Cups and being Champions of Europe, they might care to reflect on 2002-03 being the ONE and only time they've finished in a higher league position than us in the last 40 years (and then I think it was only two places !!).  So much for them winning something in the last 20 years !

Bigger club than us ? not in the last 150 years nor in the next 150.

I see no reason why the boys can't be up for this and put them back in their place.

Sherwood's got to get them up for this one. Score the winner and you're an instant legend. We'll muller them.

Their forum is ridiculous. I have never read so much drivel. Inbred is an understatement.

They should show it to the team prior to kick off.

By the way - Tim - This is a NO LOSE GAME under any circumstances!!

They've finished above us more than once, they've been in a higher division than us in the past, that is the only season in living memory for most of though, even those of us who are slightly mature. In age if not actions!

Merely referring to the last 40 years PWS - seeing as they have an objection to all our honours not meaning anything now - I too remember the bad days of the late 60s/early 70s when for a couple of years (1969-70 - 1974-75 if I remember correctly) when they were in a higher division than us

Well this can only be an anti-climax after last night, but I am so looking forward to us getting one over on them anyway! Fingers crossed by then we will have a few more league points in the bag too.

I would play Richards just because the atmosphere is going to be so intense that I think you need that sort of experienced player, so I think him and Clark as the center backs should be fine.  I do agree that this is a rare game made for Hutton, and I think Gabby and Getstede would be my two up front.  Sachenz could be useful in this one too.

The season starts now for me! :)
