Why could he not have just started the cup game vs Southampton? We surrendered anyway can't have done any harm.

There are so many players Garde could improve just by suggesting one addition to their game. In Adama's case, it would be 'pass'. Grealish, it would be 'shoot'. Agbonlahor, 'leave'.

Garde should have the information he needs about Agbonlahor. It will have been supplied by Gerard Houlier.

Has anybody else spotted this rumour about a clause in Traore's contract where he goes from 45k a week to 75k based on appearances, and that's why he's not playing? Cascarino seems to know all about it based on the piece I saw it in.

Apologies if this has appeared elsewhere; just thought I'd see if that's old gossip.

Ask yourself - how likely is it that we'd agree to a contract that would mean within two months we'd be paying him not to play?

Quite. As TV put it:

If the reported 40K is basic wage, and the "incentives" to bring it up to 75K include a hefty appearance fee, maybe that's why they're leaving him out of a midweek cup game.

Or, he really is not what we though he was.  Pele hasn't sung Adama's praises anywhere has he?  Then we'd know for sure he's crap.

First why is this even a talking point? There are many players around the league on this kind of money and more. Second he signed a 5 year contract. Why would we be leaving him out of the side after a couple of months due to a payment clause?

Precisely it's utter bollocks.

Probably bullshit but it's hard not to think of the Ilori deal whereby his price for a permanent move relates to the number of appearances he makes this season.

It wouldn't be a surprise at all if he's on a heavily incentivised contract. It also wouldn't be surprising if he was earning a lot more than all but a few 19 year old footballers on the planet.

It would be a big surprise though if a manager had been told not to play him because of clauses in a contract that may not kick in for years, having signed off on said contract only a few weeks earlier.

Cascarino says it's true, which is all you need to know.
You're right it's bollocks on a Buster Gonad scale.

Another PFB trying to sound clever whilst pontificating on the various woes of AVFC and talking out of his arse whilst doing so.
