3-2 Villa, a host of half and half scarves, United fans on the pitch at some point and at least one plastic manc being chucked out the Holte after a heated exchange that has everyone on their seats and ignoring the game for a good 2 and a half minutes. Can't wait.

what an atmosphere it will be tonight. On the back of a win, first home game, versus that lot, full house, at night under the lights and to round things off Adama being introduced to the fans. Fantastic!

Is it on TV for you TV ?

I'll leave you to start the Match Thread unless someone else jumps in

Yes, live on TV Mr Sox. We get all the games here between two channels; Sportsnet and TSN (part of ESPN) which take feeds from the UK. I think one of the stations shares the feed with NBC. I'll kick it off though you hold the win streak, so feel free to get in there if something stops me.

Before any of the away support think about singing "You've only come to see Yoonited" in recent years we haven't filled the ground for their visit.

The place will be full tonight because we want to see our new players - the opposition does not matter.

I suspect we may have what the financial markets call a 'correction' this evening. Though I hope not.

I'd just like villa to get some goals and have a goal. I expect to concede a penalty or sending off due to exuberance and that could mean only win 2-1.

With today's 'goings on'the fact that we are playing Man Utd tonight seems to have been forgotten a bit. I hope we win or draw against an understrength Utd but if we don't as long as Amavi,Gueye,Veretout, and in particularly Ayew show encouraging form then I dont really care.

Most likely, but hopefully we'll break our 20 year hoodoo.

Now that we have a new lingua franca at Villa Park, here are a selection of phrases that may be screamed in unison at the appropriate moment:

"Ça vient !"
/sa vjɛ̃/= "MAN ON!"

"Seul !"
/sœl/ = "TIME!"

"Lâche ton ballon [bordel] !"
/lɑʃ tɔ̃ ba.lɔ̃ [bɔʁ.dɛl]/ = "USE IT [FFS]!"

"Dégage [bordel]  !" /deɡaʒe [bɔʁ.dɛl]/ = "GET/BOOT/HOOF IT UP THE PITCH [FFS]!"

"Arbitre enculé !" /aʁ.bitʁ ɑ̃.ky.le/ = "THE REFEREE'S A WANKER!*" (*although "enculé" is closer to "c***")

"Change tout [bordel] !" /ʃɑ̃ʒ tu[bɔʁ.dɛl]/ = "SWITCH IT [FFS]!"

"Hors-jeu !" /ɔʁ.ʒø/  = "OFFSIDE!"

This doesn't have enough syllables to fit the chant, would it work with a 'le' on the beginning?

What's French for:
"Just keep the fu**ing ball (ffs)"

which is what I tend to spend most games "advising"...eg: for the last 20 minutes last week at Bournemouth.

OK, let's do "L'arbitre est un branleur" (which has the required number of syllables, fits our chant, and is the literal translation of "The referee is a wanker")

"Garde le ballon, [putain] !" or "[Putain !] Garde le ballon !"

Interested to see the line-up. Gestede I don't think will start, Tim has already said he needs to work on his fitness. Confused not to see Kozak at least on the bench after scoring in pre season, is he injured again?
When all our players are fit we will certainly have some great attacking options, but I'm still not happy with our defence, I think we need some strengthening there and i hope Okore can recover from this bad injury.
Traore looks exciting once he adapts, Ayew needs to show something to us tonight, he also needs the fitness.
Let's hope we can turn over the Red Scum, I'm feeling positive for at least a draw.

Is Okore's a bad injury?  I thought it was a fairly minor thing that needed surgery and he's just recovering from that, he played with the injury for the last month so it can't have been all that serious.
