I thought the Football League show was bad, but it wasn't as shit as that Channel 5 abomination I watched last night.

I agree.

The stupid woman on the Football League show does my head in. Why is it that the majority of women on TV to present/discuss sport, haven't got a fucking clue. All they know is Man Utd/Man City/Arsenal/Chelsea and the EPL. Not a fucking clue and irritating. The dopey mare on BBC breakfast (the one who looks like a horse), is also a fucking idiot.

There's a lot of shit male presenters, but the good to bad ratio is better than the women's. Eleanor Oldroyd is about the only decent female sports presenter I can currently think of.

I blame Sky Sports.

Surely the only requirements should be is, 1) not be annoying and 2) have a clue what you're talking about.
Kelly Cates (who others have mentioned)
Jaquie Oatley
Alison Mitchell
Gabby Logan
Clare Balding

To name just five off the top of my head, might want to join us in the 21st century pal.

Early runner for most ignorant post of the season there, after all what could the daughter of Kenny Dalglish possibly know about football? I seem to recall you telling us all we were deluded if we thought Villa could beat the might of Liverpool at Wembley.

The highlights programme is abysmal but it has nothing to do with the presenters.

Rebecca Lowe who does NBC sports coverage of the PL is excellent. She was on Setanta before I think.

Jonathon Pearce, Danny Mills, Robbie Savage, most of the talksport lot but especially Mickey Quinn, Mark Lawrenson, Alan Green, two of the blokes that do BBC Breakfast bulletins, Michael Owen, Niall Quinn, Ian Wright, John Motson, Clive Tyldesley, Andy Townsend, Peter Drury, Phil Neville, Martin Keown, Chris Waddle and Mark Bright are all off the top of my head abysmal male presenters/summarisers/commentators and that's without any comment on what any of them look like.

She was. Remember her from the McGregor statue unveiling.

Back on MOTD for a moment. Tim should get a slightly easier time from Shearer as an ex-teammate.

Not that will count for much as he is clueless as a pundit, i.e. offers little or no insight and is barely able to express himself.

Kelly Cates is great.

She is. I also think Shearer has improved massively in the last year or so.

My brother in law supports a recently relegated Championship team and was suicidal this morning that getting relegated has coincided with the dreadful taking over by C5 of the highlights rights. I didn't see it, but he said it was phenomenally bad, bad enough to make you miss Steve Claridge.

I watched far more of the Football League show last season than MOTD (for reasons I don't need to explain on this board), and generally enjoyed it.

Simple, stripped down, a bit of brief chat and tons of football. The only thing that was poor was when they sent that over chummy tosspot 'Clem' anywhere

The format of the programme was appalling, no need for the live audience and I didn't understand why they said the result or winners of most of the matches before showing incredibly brief highlights.

At least she isn't a plastic Manc or some such. Not everyone can support Villa.
