No surprises again.

Poor second half with one or two exceptions.

I think you're watching a different match to me.

Baker at fault pretty badly for the equaliser, there.

A lot of huff and puff but with so many new players it was a poor game. Defensively we look to invite teams to put the ball in the box. Up front we're congested. Overall, based on the second half  I thought it was a fair result.

What happened for the last equaliser?  How was Baker culpable?

Standing there like a spare vagina at a wedding until it was too late, one of his usual fuck ups. The new players all look like good footballers thats for sure, and i hope Joe Cole can stay fit as he will have a part to play this season. Sinclair surely booked a place in the team for next week.

I thought Ayew was poor tbf, he looked lost and was pretty much marked out the entire game. Amavi didn't have a great game at the back either, especially their second when he was too static and didn't close his man down.

I totally disagree.

I thought we looked technically very good. What let us down was the poor defending. Baker for the third was particularly poor, but it's worth remembering, at that point we had Sanchez playing at centre half, not a situation that will repeat itself too often, one hopes.

That was thrown away by a brilliant piece of skill from Lansbury and a defensive clanger from Baker.

who was central defence today?

Richards and Clark, who looked very good after the first 60 secs. Crespo and Clark both like statues for the first goal, but both looked a lot better after.

I did think we looked massively better when we switched to 433 / had more players with good movement and ball skills on the pitch

A softer underbelly you couldn't find though. At 3-1 I thought we couldn't screw it up but forest had two attacks and scored two goals.

It's got to be the biggest concern. Defending under Tim has been even worse than lambert's first season and that was the worst I'd ever seen from a villa side

Looks like we've got a lot more creativity in the team. Amavi, Gueye and Ayew all looked class. Think we need someone dominant in MF to break play up - Sanchez may well be that man. And hopefully Richards & Clark will stay fit to shore us up better defensively. Crespo looked a decent option to Hutton - hopefully the injury he picked up today won't keep him out too long. Sinclair behind Gestede could be interesting up top so think Tim's got some good options there. Think it could be a far better season than the last 4

Hutton for all his good defensive work and constantly making himself available to receive the ball out wide, still refuses to cross the ball.

I thought Ayew and Amavi were fine. Amavi particularly going forward, his cross for the first was incredible. Ayew is quick, competitive and decent on the ball although he didnt show anything to suggest hes a natural goalscorer. At the very least he's an upgrade on Gabby and Charles.

Hutton is similar to Cissokho just better. But ultimately he's a lumbering RB and not really in the Amavi mould. We need a RB version of Amavi.

How are the cataracts?

We may have looked technically very good but pretty clueless what to do with the ball other than not give it away.

I thought Robinson looked quite good too. Good footwork

But that defence. Fuck me.
