I wonder if anybody can boast more? That was a great advert. I've just looked it up on Wikipedia and it only aired ten times. You forgot arguably the most objectionable of them all. Chelsea. No, he didn'tHe did Richard, he started his career at Chelsea, though he was known as Butch in those distant days.I never rated him that highly as a player but I do recall him saying something to the extent that the ref should hav been lenient on Hendrie when he was sent off for two yellow cards on his debut at QPR He seemed genuine when he said it, which is why I recall it.i was at that match. Most pissed I've ever been at a villa match

Oh dear Ray Wilkins ?I would really like to know who iniated this appointment. Fox or 'Tactics' ?Ray Wilkins is a "recovering alcoholic" - 4 times over the limit on his second drunk driving arrest, whilst on bail from his first drunk driving. Jeez.Whilst he was christened "the crab" as a player --- by the immortal Big Ron ---for always passing easy sideways, rarely finding a forward runner at Chelsea, it is his Manager /Assitant Manager / Caretaker Manager roles I have a REAL PROBLEM withhis chronology:-Fulham - SACKEDChelsea - SACKEDWatford - SACKEDMillwall - "Went with Wise"England U21s - Dispensed/ Not retainedChelsea (again)- Publicly advised "contract not going to be renewed - will leave immediately" 6 months early Fulham (again) - 2 months - removed Whatever it is about him, God Knows, but his average time as a Manager or Assistant Manager, Coach or Caretaker...is....... 8 and a half months. His average life as a pundit, TV/Radio goes into years.Chris Evans once said (after Ray had bad-mouthed Gazza for being a drunk --YES ) that Ray Wilkins was photgraphed more, coming out of Soho Square FA Headquarters, whilst out of work, than Gazza had ever been outside a pub or club.Evans would know, as he was doing TFI -(whatever his Friday C4 show was called )at that time and would have had all the papp & goss rubbish.Ray Wilkins is a networker/brown-noser supreme, imo, wherever he has worked, what on Earth has he achieved? How long has he kept a job ? Some managers they say are good for 6-9 months, same for their coaches. We have an excellent Asst Manager/Coach already - why do we need Wilkins ?
I don't mean to be rude, but that post was hilariously bad and basically absolute rubbish. Bringing Chris Evans into a post about football says it all really.

Isn't he widely considered to be an excellent coach?

With his additional wages ...and eventual pay-off, do we have money to burn now?Bad, bad signing imo. Or has Tim elevated himself into the Fergie/Jose echelon, wherein he makes the occasional visit to training but concentrates on the media and PR ?That seems a bit too early in his career, so I don't really understand the size of our backroom.Another planet compared to Lambert's back-up.
Quote from: Ads on June 27, 2015, 03:58:35 PMIsn't he widely considered to be an excellent coach?Who by ? He's worked or hung around London based clubs, is media-savvy and like Venables / Hoddle / Redknapp etc, has a plethora of supporters amongst the free-loading journos. As Tommy Docherty once said of him as a player:"He can't run, can't tackle and can't head the ball. The only time he gets forward is to toss the coin"Perhaps it's those skills he is going to pass on?
Hmmm, didn't realise he had two convictions for drink driving.
Quote from: Risso on June 27, 2015, 05:57:49 PMHmmm, didn't realise he had two convictions for drink driving.Yep, he got the second whilst already banned for DD ! Was very very lucky to not do some porridge for that. Didn't realise the extent of his drink issues .
