I remember us losing to Portugal, drawing with Morocco and stuffing Poland in the group. Might have been Morocco.

If I remember correctly, we lost 1-0 to Portugal, during which Wilkins was sent off. We then drew 0-0 with Morocco, during which Robson did his shoulder in. We then beat Poland 3-0, with Lineker getting all three.

I thought Wilkins was sent off against Morocco?

Robson dislocated his shoulder and Wilkins was sent off for throwing the ball down.

Seems like yesterday which is frightening, can remember that so well. And yet, ask me the scores in a number of games Villa played last season and I wouldn't recall them at all. Memory is a funny old thing, certainly as you get older!

In which case, humblest apologies for having skim read the first 3 pages a bit too quickly.

Anyway, you can never have too many opportunities to underline how odious Chelsea are.

A sentiment with which I wholeheartedly concur, my loathing of them knows no bounds!

I'd say this is a good move.  He has good experience has worked at a high level, and is level headed.  He could a good sounding board for Sherwood.

It will only work if he has quality players to work with.
See fulham where he was a disaster.

Sorry, I didn't remember correctly! TIme had split them across the two matches for me.

Definitely an upgrade on what we've been used to recently and what seems like forever - since Little/Gregory/Evans. He has experience and contacts within the game and a high profile.

That said I couldn't stand him as a player - 86 Caps for passing the ball sideways and a meeja darling to boot. Every thing that was wrong with English football at the time. Excellent goal in Cup Final though

I dont remember his playing style that much

I know Big Ron called him the Crab , but he played for Man Utd and AC Milan so he must have had some ability ???
