He was definitely very well respected as a Coach at Chelsea from what I have read.  Great appointment.

Well they did go backwards in the season when they got rid of him supposedly against Ancelotti's wishes. Whether that was because of him leaving or the obvious rifts that lead to it (certain player power, differences between footballing staff and board members).

Welcome to the Crab as my Dad used to call him....do us proud Ray.

The Doc

I remember him as The Crab, too.

I'd not seen a picture of him for a long time and was struck by the fact that in this picture:

he seems to have morphed into Mohamed Al Fayed since the last time I saw him.

That shirt is crazy.

He also looks a bit like Gregg Wallace.

I think this is a tremendous appointment, the bloke has vast knowledge of football and always talks sense.

One-Way-Wanker-Wilkins I used to call him.  Can't do that anymore if he joins us.  Anyway, if it happens, welcome Ray and, I'm sorry. ;)

"Cech still has so much to offer at 33 and he didn't play last year so he is actually 32." Always talks sense? ;)

I would say it is another sign new owner or owners are coming in and that the managers job is safe in the medium term. He might be a good coach but we need decent players for him to work with.

Exactly. I would only say it'a a sign of new owners coming in if they lack ambition.

Underwhelmed TBH.
