Why?

Dunne and Collins were largely our centre half pairing during the most successful period we’ve had in the last twenty years, with those sixth place finishes under MON. They were a solid, but limited pairing: just what O’Neil wanted and likes.
Richards played very few games in comparison, whilst captaining the biggest shower of shite in the history of the club. He was overweight, a liability in the middle of defence and was one of the ‘senior pros’ who clearly wasn’t having any of Remi Garde to the total deferment of the club and us surviving that horrid season.

Dunne and Collins actions that night with Sid sound disgraceful and they’d lost it on the pitch by then also, but to compare their times and performances for the club to that of Micah ‘new pundit sensation’ Richards is ridiculous. That’s why.

Before Richards played for us, I didn't like him. When he signed for us, I didn't like him (and he was largely shite). Now he's a pundit, I still don't like him, and have no interest in anything he has to say about our club.

Equally, I don't hold a grudge or wish him any particular ill. Life's too short, and he never should have been brought in.

I don't think, or certainly hope, anyone here is wishing ill of him. The club offered him a crazy contract, he signed it and he saw it out until the end as he is entitled to.

But let's not get all misty eyed about poor Micah. There's a reason why his name will always invoke a level of vitriol compared to let's say Lansbury. He was the captain of one of the worst teams in the club history, a truly diabolical outfit. He was arguably one of the worst players in that team and did nothing to quell a toxic dressing room.

Agreed, but as I say, I never liked him. I certainly don't feel any sympathy for him, but he didn't surprise me, either. He was just one particularly shit member of the worst and most dislikeable Villa team I've ever seen.

I think he is a shit pundit, just like most of the ex-pros they put on the TV.

Robert Green seems incredibly insightful on 5Live.

Micah Richards was totally vacuous and embarrassing last night during the two games last night. Good job the excellent host that is Laura Wood managed to help him along.

Liam Rosenior was great as a pundit on Sky before he joined Derby as a coach. Really insightful with great knowledge of the modern game.

He was. Funny how easier it is to point things out from a studio than the bench.

Well I’m not his biggest fan but I understand he was a popular character behind the scenes. Not that it really helped much.

He’s definitely nowhere near the worse pundit on MOD. The main problem with most is they only scratch the surface of the team and like Michael Owen’s comments the other day regarding our last two transfer window’s it’s basically a load of bollocks.
That was the problem I think. Too many then were busy being “popular behind the scenes” but pretty much useless on the pitch. Richards was the focal point of that group of players IMO  just an awful time for the club. He’s a shockingly poor pundit too which comes as no surprise to me

Richards barely played for us and when he did I don’t think he embarrassed himself with his play.

Not sure about that TV, his performance at Luton was probably one of the worst full back performances I've ever seen, including ones from the South Birmingham Sunday League PM Div3
