I thought of Stan Petrov when I read that. It's what players would say about him.

remember the other fat lazy fucker we had called Richard Dunne

spent a whole season injured picking up his masive ??k per week then the minute his contract ran out he was running around for QPR

wankers the lot of em

There was another season he got picked in the premier league team of the year playing for us...

That's been our problem for as long as I can remember.

A player can have one decent season for us and dine out on it for 3-4 years.

In the case of Dunne, he looked like he was dining out on it every day for 3-4 years.

It's not even out-and-out pisstakers like him.  We probably kept JPA for two seasons too long and Dion Dublin well past the point of effectiveness. Though in the latter's case that is partly understandable after Sheff Wed in 1999.

I’m tempted to put this on Micah’s twitter:

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43293449

That’s what a proper captain looks like.

Beautifully done.

Dunney was great in 09/10. We barely missed Laursen that year.

Him and Collins lost interest when MON left though.

Am I right in saying Dunne, Collins and Warnock all made their debuts at the sty after signing on deadline day? There was one fantastic moment when we were under the cosh, Small Heath had a shot and all three of them threw themselves in the way to block it.

Would you take a pay cut and leave your current work?? No, so let's get off that topic.

I quit a job that I hated and found one that I loved - my pay dropped by about 7K.

If Richards hates sitting on the bench and not playing HE should do something about it.

Probably the best back 4 as a unit I've seen play for us since the mid 90s.

We must've kept 20 + clean sheets that season. This was with a 4-4-2 system with two touchline hugging wingers remember.

Milner was very important in this of course.

Edit: in 07/08 we had likes of Mellberg, Laursen and Bouma at the back but due to our open style still conceded 50 + goals.

But scored 72!

It has taken 10 years and will be an extra 8 games to surpass that.

That's very moving. Evidently the club are honouring the four year contract he was due to sign and paying his wages directly to his family.

It was a very fun season, so many classics in there particularly away from home. 4-4s at Chelsea and Spurs and the 5-1 of course.

The run of 4-0 against Bolton, 6-0 against Derby and 5-1 against the Noses was great.

Correct, Dunne came back the size of a whale after that pre-season MON walked out during. Recall him being very solid under McLeish, and even Gary Mac, until injury intervened. Was never the same player again for club and country. Don't recall him playing much for Ireland post the Euro 2012 disaster.

Lambert made a very poor call effectively replacing Collins with "concrete" Ron. Suffice to say all at their worst were still miles better than Micah Richards in a Villa shirt.

Did Ron ever recover after he left us?
